hi glugs is dual layer dvdwriting supported in linux.coz on box of every DVD Writer it is written supported by windows. well the vendors also dont know weather it is supported by linux or not. & is kernel 2.4 supporting it. regards advait

which lan card is linux compatible?

hi, i want to buy a lan card for my cable internet connection. i would like to know which lan cards are compatible with linux. i have yoper linux installed and would like to use the internet from it. it would be nice if the lan card was auto detected and i would not require to mess up with the hardware configuration to use the lan card as i am relatively new to linux.. regards, kevin.

Err i thought that developers stick to one distro. And any change in --PREFIX was a one time change. So it would not change from one flavour of RH, suse whatever to the next. Linux is creating it's own market. The thread fails to see the larger picture. Which is desktop != computers and fragmentation of the os market into desktop, servers (low,mid, high, cluster), embedded, Realtime, gaming etc. with M$ nowhere in the picture in several of these and very badly mauled with failed projects in the embedded and realtime space. The one size fits all is long over. And branding and service headaches will ensure a healthy spread of companies and services. If anything this frag is the best thing to have happened to the computing industry. Watchout for new PCs with Powerpc cpus instead of i386. Infact today there was an announcement from Sony-IBM for playstation 3 using these chips. rgds jtd

Dear all, Have just discovered a neat way to connect to pacenet with Mandrake 10 installed. Just reinstall Mandrake 10 all over again. Only click on Upgrade instead of a full install and the system detects the pacenet internet connection. All one needs to do is then enter details like DNS server details, username@linuxuser etc and begin surfing. only problem the connection is 'always on' now trying to find ways to log off since my account is of a limited nature. shiv kumar __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? attending GNUNIFY-2005

hello, i would like to know whether the seminar GNUNIFY-2005 to be held in symbiosis can be attended by students or its only for invitees? i am the student of university of pune can i attend the seminar? i am new to the world of linux so obiviously also new to rtlinux and i am doing project of memory allocation in rtlinux,i am unable to find source code of rtlinux free version and unable to download its kernel patches could anybody suggest me regarding the same? thanking you, regards Mamta.C
