[Commercial] Part/Full time sysadmin required

Hi, We're an engineering/manufacturing company with a small (~25 pc) network - linux on the server side, linux/xp/nt on the workstations. We're in the process of migrating to linux. We're looking for someone who can sys/net admin the setup. Since the setup is small, full time (9 to 5) commitment may not be required. No need to reformat at all. Just plug it on the same ide port as your old system. After that you will have to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 for using the right X11 driver. Then run modconf and select/remove the apropriate modules. Reboot. Which mobo (chipset, make, model no.)? rgds jtd

[ILUG-BOM] Reconfiguring Debian while upgrading machine and using the old hdd

Hi I am running Debian 3.1 testing. I am upgrading from a PII machine to a PIV 2.5 ghz , 64 MB Video RAM, Cd writer . What would I need to do to use my old HDD without a reformat? any things to take care of? -- Warm Regards ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vinayak

Hi people i recently tried installing FC3 on my system, the first problem i faced was it did not detect my mouse. the second problem i faced was while trying to label the partitions my version of FC3 setup showed hung up screens. i had to abondon my setup. anyone can tell me whats the problem?

dailing problem for internal modem

Hi, I have a Dell inspiron 510m laptop. from lspci -v it shows. 000:00:1f.6 Modem: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [Generic]) Subsystem: Conexant: Unknown device 5422 Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 7 I/O ports at d400 [size=256] I/O ports at d080 [size=128] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version I installed slmodem modules. it gets the modem through alsa , & detected by wvdialconf , when below is run. cartoon:~# slmodemd -c INDIA --alsa SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.10 Feb 8 2005 14:54:01 symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/2' created. modem `modem:1' created. TTY is `/dev/pts/2' Use `/dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination. But dialing doesnt work, there is no sound ( even after adjusting alsamixer settings - Phone) & it doesnt dial?
