Hi All
I plan to buy AMD processor : ATHLON 3000+ 939 with motherboard : MSI 7093 RS 4
80. I just want to know the following :
a) Is there any heating problem with AMD ?
AMD Athlon xp series had no heating issues...its a very stable and
economical processor
But read a few reviews about MSI RS480 before fixing on that - there
are mixed reviews on the net.
Featurewise, its the best motherboard for that money. You get more
that what you pay for - a decent onboard ATI graphics, LAN, SATA,
TVout, 5.1 audio etc.
But, some guys have faced overheating problems with the motherboard.
b) Or is it safe bet to go in for Intel P4 3 ghz ?
Thanks for your advice.

I have bought the same configuration recently - Athlon xp 64 3000+ and
MSI RS480ML - the system rocks for that price.
I installed an additional fan on the system and got a 400W SMPS...just
in case. The system was pretty stable, and gave no overheating issues
for me.
However, the motherboard recently went bad, but that, I think was more
due to the lack of earthing in my place rather than has to do with
motherboard...

Hi there,
This is Vihang a rookie linuxer...
I believe that the real potential of linux system lies in its networking capability but somehow my home machine is not connecting to LAN
i am using Red Hat 8.0 and my configuration is celeron 2 GHz, 128 mb ram , and a graphics card. i have installed the graphics card.
A brief description about the problem is
when i go to network configuration wizard my network card is detected properly which is Realtech (some number). Then in the next step i manually put my Static IP address given by my net connection provider i enter subnet mask and all the detail. After the wizard finishes i try accessing any website and it says website not found. i try pinging the some ip and it says network not reachable. Everythign is working fine on my Windows XP site.
The interface eth0 is detected properly during the booting of the system.
Not sure from where to start the troubleshooting. I tried searching on the net but no relevent information
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanx Bye
Vihang

Hi,
I know this really isint linux related, but couldnt think of a better place
to ask. I have a netgrear wireless router which I want to configure to
access sify.
These are the steps I have taken:
1) Useing static ip address on router configuration page.
2) I have set the mac address on the router to correspond with the one they
have bound to my account.
Now the problem is that I still need to use the sify client to send my
username and password. The client also automatically sends my MAC address.
So depending on the connection I use( wireless or wired) a different MAC
address is sent. Also currently its impossible for two computers to use the
internet at the same time.
What I need to figure out is a way for the Netgear router to send all this
information to sify.
Any suggestions will be helpful.

Hi All
This is to inform you all of the establishment of an Internet root
server cluster in India. This is an important step forward not only
for the country of India, but the Internet as a whole, as it will
improve the accessibility, availability, security and speed of the
Internet Domain Name System (including .IN and .INFO) within India and
the region.
This enhancement to infrastructure is a result of a plan undertaken by
the Government of India in 2004. A key step in that plan was the
January, 2005 upgrade of the .IN domain to Afilias' technology, a move
that coincided with: 1) the liberalization of the domain's policies to
open the domain to anyone; and 2) a reduction of the price to a
competitive level. The improvements in .IN enabled the domain to grow
from 6500 domains to over 125,000 registrations since January 2005.
As the registry services provider for the .IN registry, we must
congratulate India's Ministry of Communications and Information
Technology and the managers at NIXI in their pursuit of advancing the
state of technology in the country and in improving the reliability of
the Internet to users around the world.

To learn more about becoming a .IN registrar, visit:

Please join us in congratulating the Government of India on such an
important achievement.

Jeetu
