[OT] porting/developing an app for a set-top box

Hi all, Anyone in the group has an idea of porting an app to a set-top box running OS-20 on STM chipset. Or if anyone has ported/developed an app for any set-top box would also suffice. 1)Basically I would like to have a general idea of the development environment used.the SDK's used? 2)How is an app loaded on the set-top box? 3) Are the SDK's available for linux/windows? 4) Is localization possible for such embedded apps? I tried googling for info on OS-20 and STM chipset but could not get hands on much info. With warm regards, Pankaj

i m using postgresql... i want one of my columns to reference diff tables and refernece them in or relation wat i mean is that for the column foo in table foo_table the values should come from column ref1 in table 1 orref 2 in table 2 and so on eg in foo_table id foo 1 123 (referneces table1) 2 124 (referneces table1) 3 223 (referneces table 2) table 1 id ref1 otherfields id01 123 kasdhfaks id02 124 asdkjasl table2 id ref2 02id01 223 so is there anyway i can specify these constraints i hope i was clear in the description... thanks -- Puneet

Redirecting FTP

Hi Friends, I have a debian system with 2 NIC's one with a public ip and another with a private ip, also i have a domain which is been pointed to the public ip address of this debian system. What would happen is anyone on the net would ftp to the domain and reach this public IP. Now what i want is to divert all ftp traffic comming to this public ip to anoher machine with a private ip address. Someone said me that is possible through IPtables, but i don't know how to do it, i tried a lot but was not successfull, please if anyone is aware of this stuff, let me know. Regards, Rajendra Rait.

CLI <> GUI Problem solved

Hello All, I was trying out a game (on M$) that did not work on my client's pc. Ininitally it had a display problem as my resol. was 1072 x 768. So I went to the BIOS and just for kicks, increased the display frame buffer from 1MB to 8MB for my on board video. That helped me in playing the game at high resol. Then I booted into Kubuntu 5.10 and I was able to shuttle back and forth between CLI ( ctrl+alt+F1) and GUI with ease and no hanging or eratic display problem as before. :) Regards, Rony. ___________________________________________________________ NEW Yahoo! wlan query linux box <-> zaurus

Okay this is what I have: one linux box running FC4. eth0 connects to the net via a cable modem. This has a static IP address. eth1 is a SMC2802W wi-fi card working (I think :)) with ndiswrapper. I managed to get a SanDisk cf wi-fi card. I finally got the wi-fi card working with a little help from google. The light in the card goes blink-blink so I know its working. Now I want to connect my zaurus to my linux box over wi-fi. On the zaurus the wi-fi card has a ip of 192.168.129.203. I have tried to ping 192.168.129.202 (ip of eth1) fromthe zaurus but am unable to do so. Trying to ping the ip of the zaurus from the linux box gives an error saying detination host unreachable. The lights on the wi-fi card ligt up when I try to ping the zaurus. What do I need to do ? some pointers please. I can of course provide any more info required. regards, Sharukh. -- Dr. Sharukh K. R. bug in Nautilius ?

I thought I'd confirm with seniors here before filing a new bug in Nautilius. I took a 8-sec avi format video in today's session by Mark S at IIT. I tried to check its size via right-click->Properties in File Browser. Result: The window closed & opened my home folder again. Notes: The file was in my home folder. I moved it to a subdir & tried same action. The result was the same i.e. a new file browser opened again with my home folder. I have opened the file under the other evil OS & hence it is not corrupted. The file is attached. Regards, Mohan S N

OT Sending extra variables to a php script

I spent the whole morning trying to figure out how to create an extra variable in a html page and sent it to a form processing php script . "<input type="text", name="firstname" size =" 34">" this creates a variable "firstname" which can be collected for processing in a php script as $_POST["firstname"] , but along with this say I also want to sent the text "this is coming for form 1" how do I do that . I just can't generate a text box and put the text in there and then sent it thats would be pretty stupidd ... So how do i generate a variable to hold this value in a webpage .. PLease helpp !!! Suggest a motherboard

Hi i m planing to buy pc based on AMD 64. Can anybody of you suggest me which motherboard should i go for? i need one that is well supported in linux. the vendor has suggested MSI K8MM-V. Also there is an option for opteron with ASUS A8N-VM, which has nvidia 6100 graphics chipset. Please suggest me one which will work under linux flawlessly!! Thanks & regards Manish

hello everyone me and my friends are doing an Video and Image processing experiment for which unfortunately we'r having to use MATLAB for WINDOWS..We'd love to do the work on the LINUX platform but unfortunately we are not aware of softwares wich would give us the same degree of control and freedom on the Linux platform..we're aware of Matlab for Linux...considering cost issues we'd like to learn about a more viable option. Any suggestion and guidance will be of great help!!! Thank you
