*Minutes of January GLUG-Meet @ Five Gardens* The GNU/Linux Users Group of Mumbai held its January GLUG meet on 14th January 2006 at Five Gardens, Matunga. This meet was attended by about 15 people coming from all over the city and far suburbs. This meet was much more interactive and more issues were discussed than it would have been possible in a classroom like environment. Following discussions were held. --- tea break :-) * Miscllaneous problems/solutions related to FAX/multimedia/desktop. * Pradeepto demoed the KDE india T-Shirt logo and was wondering wether the swirls in tricolor were voilating the national flag code. --- tea break :-) * GPLv3 and its implications on software developers and users. Why patenting of software is a so dangerous and how it kills innovation. * Rony Bill raised some of the issues faced by hardware vendors while providing service to customers. The biggest problem faced by vendors is lack of person who are ready to experiment with something new. Ominous message in the logs

Hi. I am using the videolan-client on Fedora Core 4 x86-64, and saw this message using dmesg. I guessed there was trouble vlc's output in the terminal. Is this just a harmless application error, or is something else wrong? Thanks! Obvious Disclaimer: This is for Sify Broadband users on this list. Others may ignore this email. Hi, I've written a GUI dialer program for Sify Broadband using the QT toolkit. Linux meet tomorrow.

Hello All, This month's linux meet will be held tomorrow as per schedule. The venue is Five Gardens at Matunga at 4 pm. If you come from Dadar station then get down to the east at the Swaminarayan temple. Walk straight along the road parallel to the railway tracks towards Matunga. At the Ruia college junction turn right and come straight towards Five Gardens. There is a small mini garden group just before the main gardens. Our garden is the first main garden on your right and it has a tree in the center that grows slanting from the ground and later goes vertical. Thats your landmark. If you are coming from Sion side then get down at the Ruia junction bus stop and go eastwards to the gardens. If you are coming from Dadar Parsi Colony side, this garden is the first on your left, adjacent to the school. If you come from Wadala St. Joseph side, its the second garden to your left. RAID mirror problems

Hi Linuxers...We are facing trouble during configuration of a Hardware RAID (Level 1 - Mirroring) Bios configures SCSI and could build RAID 1 using the system utility. But while installing RH Linux EL, diskdruid shows two different HDD instead of One drive for RAID 1. we are using RHEL 4[2.6.9-5] for the configuration of a IBM X series 236 server. We Tried loading latest drivers from IBM's website while installing linux, but no use. While installation of a software RAID, Linux gets installed, but we are unable to use the On-Board RAID controller for hardware RAID. Any help ??? with Thanks in Advance old man mozz

problem with GPPP

helo everyone i have a reliance web conn (Reliance LSP350R), the problem is i just cant get a stable conn in linux n gppp, i configured the dialer n the modem, but the conn usually resets itself in 60-90 secs, renderin it virtually useless to do any work. if i disconnect n reconnect then it gives error that modem not found or busy n sometimes in the process table the wvdial has an unterruptable status which i cant kill n which stays in the process table even if i disconnect the phone. my system is a UBUNTU 5.10. can anyone sort out the problem.
