Dear all,
Some of us probably knows that Debian comes with more than 12 or more
architecture support [1]. And, we traditionally only use either amd64
(AMD64 family) or i386 (Intel 32 bit processors) or powerpc (Mac is
now on Intel processors). So, my question is where exactly other
hardwares than these can be get from/within India?

1. Can you ping your windows PC which have the share ?
2. Please try following command on linux and give me the result.
smbclient -U <windows username> --list=ferrari
It will ask for password please put your windows passwd.
Can you see the share name ?

Server has 4 GB of RAM. Should I increase this ? or is there any logic to
calculate RAM ?

Yes I will create different thread for this. I need debuging tool for both
kernel and application. Like if any app is not working then why its not
working is there any problem in app or os.

I am trying to make changes to the /etc/inputrc file ..... ( this file
basically handles keyboard mapping for specific situations. see
http://tldp.org/LDP/lfs/LFS-BOOK-6.1.1-HTML/chapter07/inputrc.html ) but not
much info is given on how to edit the file as per one likes.
Suppose i want the keyboard key "ctl+e" to run the command ls -la .... how
do i do this in /etc/inputrc file.
thanks .... for helping me out here :-)

cat /proc/cpuinfo shows 8 CPUs.
I will prefer to recompile kernel as Tally 7.2 for linux doesnt work on FC5+
Is there any debugging tool which I can use like Dtrace on Solaris ?

Hi,
Sorry for cross post but if anyone is brave enough to test and report
latest Debian installer -- it will be very helpful for upcoming
release, Lenny.

Subject: Call for Debian Installer testing, before D-I Beta1 release
To: debian-boot
Hello,
We're starting the work for D-I Beta1 release and we would like ask to
everyone to test the installer as much as possible, especially in not
so common architectures where we receive less general testing.
In the current timeline, we will stop to accept fixes for the
installer in few days so any important issues need to be fixed _now_.
You can find the latest installer, for your pet architecture, at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ and if you find any
issues file a installation report.
Thanks in advance and let's make Lenny the best release ever made!
Cheers,
Otavio Salvador

Hi,
I have Xeon Quad core processor server. And I have attached one more same
processor to that motherboard. So now I have two processors on one
motherboard. I have already installed Fedora Core4 on that. But after
attaching new processor instead of getting fast its getting slow. Specially
when samba user connects samba share or nfs clients connect nfs share it
takes 2-3 or more for them.
Is there any spacial configuration for second CPU ? or should i have to
compile kernel ?

Hello people,
Some time ago, prompted by a thread on linux-india-general, I built a
pipe to create a feed of foss events in India:
http://pipes.yahoo.com/bluesmoon/foss_in_india
What this pipe suffers from is lack of input data, so what I'm hoping
for, is help from lugs around the country to create this input data.
Doing this is fairly simple.
1. Add the event to http://upcoming.yahoo.com if it is not already there
2. Tag the event with the two tags "foss" and "india"
You can do the same for barcamp style events, but use the tag
"unconference" instead of "foss".
Please spread the word, and help out
Thanks,
Philip
