I assume it has been almost over a month now and updates to kde.in were
far and few.
But here it comes, presenting the next FreeIndian: Kartik Mistry.
Our current interview features the Gujarati Geek (alliteration
attempted ;) ) who runs the Universal OS and is involved in l10n as
well as packaging applications for it. Interestingly, he started with
Redhat 7.0 in his early days of computing with FOSS and has now become
a package maintainer for few packages under Debian GNU/Linux. Read on
to know more, from the below link.
I have a spamassissin server with 512 MB ram cpu speed 1796.635 MHz . i am
currently connecting a mailserver called "Smater mail " to connect to my
remote spamassissin server and it works fine. but suddenly ( after a few
days ) its connection breaks. When I check the log i find the
following error !!
Thu Mar 6 14:53:05 2008 error: syswrite() to parent failed: Broken
pipe at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Mail/SpamAssassin/SpamdForkScaling.pm
to start spamassissin again i have to restart the spamd daemon and everthing

If there is no solution

I have a fully updated Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) installation with the
It seems like my computer cannot boot without the all_generic_ide parameter
added to the kernel line in menu.lst
If I remove the all_generic_ide parameter, my computer won't boot and gives
an error "waiting for root file-system".
Also, all my ide devices are detected under /dev/sdx.
Is anybody experiencing similar problems?
Actually, I used to have a techcom webcam. But that didnt work on linux.
So I picked up a logitech webcam messenger, quality is pretty good. Cant
expect anything too fancy for Rs. 1100 odd. But nevertheless a nice
webcam. Works great with ubuntu/hardy.
The latest skype beta for linux has video support. With a 2mbit
down/512up, its almost brilliant with no lags.
Personally, the quality in this case was comparable against the mac
isight in terms of refresh rates. Maybe 10-15% lower to the mac isight
in reproduction quality. Considering one costs 10 times more than the
other, I think 10-15% is very doable. Interestingly it works kinda slow/
poorly as compared on windows. The day has finally come where MOST of my
hardware is compatible more with linux than windows, atleast where
performance and drivers is concerned. :|

Use GNU / Linux System
I have an Intel Core 2 Duo machine. Configuration is given below.
- Processor: Intel Core2Duo E6400
- Motherboard: DG965RYCK
- RAM: Kingston DDR2 512x2 ( 533MHz )
- Sony DVD Writer
1. Samsung 120GB ( SP1213 ) SATA
2. Seagate 80GB ( dont remember the model no. ) PATA
3. Seagate 500GB ( dont remember the model no. ) SATA
The 500GB HD is in an external enclosure. I was using it as a backup
HD. I got lazy and didn't backup the backup! :( And now that disk has
failed. The symptoms are unclear. First, the disk, which would
normally show up as an external USB mass storage device, didn't get
detected. So I unplugged it from its casing and connected it on my
motherboard. But it wouldn't get detected there either. It didn't make
the usual "clicking" sound that harddisks do when they're generally
busted. So I was hoping it was a cable issue. I changed the cable. It
was a no go.
I got fed up and unplugged the disk. Then my second disk, 80GB one,
stopped being detected. The symptoms it showed were clear. GRUB errors
in the beginning but the system booted up fine after reconnecting it's
( HD's ) wires. Funny thing is that the 80GB harddisk was replaced
recently because it had failed. I bought the 500GB HD because I wanted
to maintain backups but now they too are gone and I'm left with
I've given the harddisk to my vendor who had supplied the disk and he
has inquired with several data recovery specialists and they say
they'll have to open up the disk. Now my problem is that the disk is
very costly and if they open it up, then the warranty will be void and
I wont be able to buy a new harddisk.
Can someone help me out here?

Well i jsut want to verify what "rotate 4" really means --- according to
the man pages it says "The *number* of times to rotate a logfile before
