Dear Sir/Madam, I am the webmaster of the IEEE(International Electronics &Electrical Engineers) student branch of (TSEC)Thadomal Shahni Engg. College,Mumbai,now on referred as IEEE-TSEC. IEEE-TSEC organises a 3-day national level technical festival,ISAAC,every year in the beggining of October.This year, the festival is on the 28th Sept,2nd & 5th Oct.This festival is attended by approximately 8000 students on these 3 days collectively.ISAAC is the largest technical festival in the Mumbai Unversity. Hello All, We have started an effort, by means of website www.roadjams.info, to provide real-time traffic information to Mumbai. Would appreciate if people who are interested to contribute can contact me or mumbai<at> roadjams.info. The development requires people to have a GPS enabled phone, (external or internal GPS) and a small utility that sits on the phone and updates location to the server. The software on the mobile is available under GPL. Currently the software works very well on Nokia phones. Support for other phones is being developed and should be possible in near future. Microsoft Vs Open source on NREGA ICT infrastructure

On the NREGA ICT infrastructure page - http://nrega.nic.in/ictinfrastructure.htm I found this --> http://nrega.nic.in/ict/ict3.asp check the columns titled - No. of Applications Running and it shows number of 'applications' running on Microsoft platforms and those running on 'open source' platforms. Not too sure what this means. Why would for e.g some state have 450 s/w applications ??and why would they be all different? Does anybody know what exactly this means? I'm guessing they mean number of machines running on MS or open source. Whatever it is, the fact that open source has a count of 0 in most states is something worth looking into. Thunderbird 2 bug?

Hello, There is Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 on a PC and it has been upgraded to the latest apt packages. Thunderbird 2 was installed from apt packages. A gmail account was setup but it fails to authenticate the password and returns a normal wrong password error. After wasting a lot of time rechecking and suspecting the keyboard, I setup the account in Kmail and it worked fine. So there appears to be a bug in that Thunderbird package. I would also like to add that KDE4 does not allow editing of its menus and Kmail's icon which was missing from the 'Internet' sub-menu, could not be added manually. Some people on the net appear to have similar problems. Even creating a new application shortcut on the desktop as well as task bar is not possible with a right click as that option itself is missing. KDE4 is still a little 'nangu'. -- Regards, Rony.
