Android 1.6 tablet internet proxy setting

Hi, After the discussion about cheap android tablet in the list, I got interested and ordered a M001 tablet from the internet link provided by one of you. After a wait of about a month it arrived yesterday, the price was $109 and I had to pay a duty of Rs.766 to the postman. I now can not configure internet proxy setting on the device. Though through google search I have been getting some instructions, but they do not match the menus on my device. It runs kernel 2.6.29-00236-g4f8dbbb-dirty, build number 1.9.1 and firmware version 1.6. I would be grateful if some one can give pointers to solve my problem. Thanks and regards. sadhu

All of us who use the mailing list have either come accross the nuisance of top-posting, or have been *scolded* by others on the list for top-posting and other non-compliance of email etiquettes. [ 1 ] First of all I would say you are very lucky as you are going to be a witness of information collaborative environment at RajasFoss [ 2 ] I introduce you to the word 'talk' : It means an individual would tell about his expertise, tools he use, about latest technologies and in talk you just have to sit in your seat and listen to one. No wonder if you can get all he/she is saying, but you will let yourself free in amazing world of knowledge. [ 3 ] In couple of days, talk topics and speaker lists will be there on our site (http://rajasfoss.lugb.in). There are enormous things and topics that can be talked in college and among curious minds, so just find out what you are curious at. So how are you going to do that : simple observe the talk list and speakers, go and search about topics and technologies they are going to talk about. If some of them will intrigues you then do some home work for that, spend some time about exploring it. [ 4 ] Fortunately the way we study, resources that we have are enormous but unfortunately proxies to them are not that efficient or cloaked. It is same as having a 4 mbps of internet connection in your hand but in the middle it is the proxy server that limits you and indirectly decides your surfing behaviour and in this context proxies are our books and lecturers and the way some other things are. They are going to remain as they are. No matter, here is some change, we let you know about learning resources, open methods, open standard and ways where you can flourish your curiosity and find out similar interest partners. [ 5 ] In short you should not miss it. If you are done with these five points and are at the bottom of my view, what I want to tell you then you should stop reading here. Further I write some naive explanation : When we grew up nobody knows what we are interested in and further if we get the thing in which we are interested, how we are going to get it, nobody knows. So simply our guardians, our schools and colleges provides us a broadcasting system. Signals of knowledge are delivered to us and we are a kind of receivers. But .. alas the frequencies and such receivers are not in our control, how good it would be if we can set the frequency to the channel you wanted to listen ever. And this is not the limit, if you don't like the way how frequency is delivered to the system and you have some reason for that as because you got a better way to do that. You might come up with a whole set of new protocols. But to do that you should have an open standard in your hand. For your amusement here I unveil the secret of making easy and obvious things 'hard' : Just make them close, just hide them under the mist how they works. Is there any mystery resides there in making a cup of tea , obviously No .. because the recipe is open and you can add your own kind of garam masala practicals to that. So, I am just trying to let you understand the open source / foss philosophy. It is exact what I used with a tea metaphor . It is the tea which you can fork up and come with your own idea of a new flavour. But how will you get to know how many flavours are already there... I mean how many teas/flavours are there how they were made and what are more potentials. An obvious thing will be to use internet and read up things, that's good but how amazing it would be if we gather somewhere where some persons from the same philosophy come up at stage and tell you about some mesmerizing ideas and clues that you can trace with your own minds. And that's what we call an open change in our mindsets and RajasFOSS is all about it. In very crude way this is an attempt about spreading some words that would force you to rethink about your own possibilities. [INFO] Sound Capture in Ubuntu (outrec)

Hello, I stumbled upon a lovely aflatoon sound capture utility called outrec that records live sound playing from the audio out. It is simple and no-nonsense and has good recording fidelity with no adjustments required. http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/07/quickly-record-soundcard-output-in-ubunt… The instructions are simple. first download all the dependencies by copy and pasting the _complete_ sudo apt-get ...... command as shown in the site. Then click on the blue download link and again click on the download now link for ..._all.deb and save the deb file. Run 'dpkg -i ....._all.deb' from the saved location. The link for outrec will appear in the Applications -> Sound and Video menu. Just press the record button to start recording and click on mp3 or ogg for the type of save. The file will be available in the folder called outRec in your home directory. -- As a proper list etiquette... Please trim your replies. experiment in cron

I am doing this little experiment in cron, but not able to make it work. I want cron to play a certain mp3 file at a certain time. So I add the usual time parameters and add the following to the command field: /usr/bin/ffplay <path to my mp3 file> But cron mails me an error which I have attached as text file. I also tried "/bin/bash /usr/bin/ffplay <path to my mp3 file>" but it does not work. Where am I going wrong? Problems with Reliance connection on Karmic Koala

Hello, Several attempts are required to get online with my Reliance NetConnect modem on Karmic Koala. The connection usually drops without connecting at all, or after a half hour or so. On Jaunty Jackalope, the modem connects without problems (using wvdial). Request help with this gross net loss. Please let me know if you need additional info. Offline-and-hating-it

Dear Friends Want to know how to tie up an installation to a particular HDD. We do Linux implementations and had seen people ghost the whole harddisks to save on implementation charges. Currently we are using a commercial solution that costs us dear and does not let us bring down the cost of deployment. What we thus require is: 1. We can tie up the installation with the hdd serial number with some command / application that can... a. Check the harddisk serial number before booting (may be through GRUB - but to my knowledge, such a command does not exist within GRUB). b. Delete the installed partition where we have installed our deployment and applications if not matching. c. Encrypt the data partition with a key that only we can decrypt. 2. We can run our entire installation from a DVD provided that is tied with an online system which will not allow the system to boot unless the key matches with the one in our database.
