I am part of an IT Infrastructure Solutions and Management consulting
company (www.silverarc.biz). The solutions we provide are based on the
FOSS stack.
We have tried the traditional method of recruiting and hiring
experienced help as well as fresh grads from local vocational
institutes, that offer training in Linux.
Even with certified and/or experienced candidates, we have found
their knowledge of Linux SysAdmin skills and application of mind to
be lacking.
We want to try out a different approach. We want to train and hire
individuals who have a deep thirst for knowledge and the desire to
excel.
To achieve our objective we are starting a 3 month internship program.
The internship will cover the basics in:
1. Linux System Administration.
2. Networking Administration.
3. Hardware.
4. Simple shell Scripting.
with practical sessions including client site visit with our field engineer.
Timings: Mon-Fri 10:00 - 17:00
Qualifications:
1. Passion for FOSS technology.
2. Willingness to learn something new everyday.
3. Commitment, Dedication and Trustworthiness.
Location: Mumbai, Santacruz West.
Stipend: None.
Fees: Your time.
Process:
We are serious about this program and request that individuals who are genuinely
interested, to reply to me directly [1] with your CV/Resume
(ODF/PDF/RTF/TXT formats OK)
listing out your current skill set.
There will be assesment of individual progress at regular intervals.
Successful candidates may be offered full time Junior System/Network
Administration position.

I'll come in the weekend, preferably on 30th April. Can I also attend the
LUG meet? Just curious as to what work is going on in the LUG currently.

Hello List,
For electronics engineers, when using open source EDA tools,
one of big challenge is component schematic symbols.
If you are creating symbol for component with more than 100 pins,
it becomes very time consuming and challenging to create error free
symbols.
Here is a simple program to create symbols for open source EDA kicad.
The idea is to describe symbol in .csv format and convert .csv to schematic
symbol.
At preset program supports Kicad only, but we as a community can expand
the program to include as many EDAs(free/commercial) as we can. So that
manufactures may start distributing .csv files for their components.
Hence I request, if you know Java, have time and know some symbol formats,
please contribute.
The link to program is
http://sourceforge.net/projects/csvtokicad/http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Utilities/CsvToKicad.shtml
Thank you.

Ping != Resolve.

So DNS resolution does work. Now do these nslookups:
1. nslookup -q=soa com.
2. nslookup -q=soa example.com.
3. nslookup -q=a example.com.
(Note the period at the end of every line)

Hello Everybody,
This is my first post in the mailing list.
I have Acer Aspire 4741Z laptop. After installing Ubuntu 10.4 everything is
working out of the box. Only problem is I am not able to adjust screen
brightness using Fn + left/right arrow keys. When I press those keys slider
moves, but screen brightness does not changes. As brightness is always at
maximum it drains battery fast. I have updated my distro with all latest
patches and updates including latest kernel patch. But still have the
problem.
I even posted this problem on ubuntu forums also, but no luck there.
Searched ubuntu forums also but found nothing.
Is anyone else having same problem?
Thanks in advance.

Hi ,
It just occurred to me that I am silent member of this group since
years .Years back I was just a small guy running a business in India .
Now that life has changed a lot .I thought I will revisit you guys and
see what I can be of use to others here .
I have a Chinese and a Hong kong company. We are based in Shenzhen (
the nerve center of electronics manufacturing ), China .
The interesting part is we are an unique Chinese company( with Indian
origins) which has license to import export from China and also we
have local software consultancy and solutions providing license for
Doing business in China.
China is the hot bed for consumer electronics. I am sure lot of my
Indian brothers are now working on ARM technologies and various
interesting projects in embedded technology and I am sure things are a
lot harder in India because the hardware is not so freely available .
In contrast in China all components and hardware required can be
sourced very fast .
So I would like to supply any hardware you may require even in small
numbers .Since we have regular shipments to India for our existing
business we can deliver the goods in Mumbai for you too .
If there are people who are interested in developing China market for
any of their products they may write to me also .
Also if any of you guys want to come to Shenzhen,China and explore the
mind blowing massive markets here feel free to ask for help .
Please email me on mail(a)nikhilbhaskaran.com or laptopsmumbai(a)gmail.com
I dont check the lug emails so much
Take care all

Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and I have installed dnsmasq to resolve local domain
say www.example.com. In dnsmasq I have configured these settings.
address=/example.com/127.0.0.1
listen-address=192.168.0.3
The dnsserver is my laptop on which I have my xampp too. On my laptop I have
given 192.168.0.3 as default DNS and it works fine. when I type
www.example.com on Browser.
On my desktop I'm running Windows which is having 192.168.0.2 IP. But the
desktop is not resolving www.example.com
I have changed default DNS to 192.168.0.3 and these two machine are
connected via mtnl router and also I'm able to ping vise versa.
