Brussels, Belgium: We are pleased to announce The Muktware Manual
Project. The aim of this project is to create comprehensive
manuals/user guides for different Gnu/Linux-based operating systems.
The core focus of this project is to help users in installing and
using GNU/Linux systems through extremely easy, step-by-step
instructions.
The guides will feature images and videos to make it even easier for a
novice to install & use their systems.
We have selected 6 distros for this project:
1. Ubuntu
2. Kubuntu
3. Linux Mint
4. Fedora
5. openSuse
6. Debian
Each project will be led by an editor. Each editor will be paid a
renumeration of US $150 per project. The deadline to finish & submit
the project is April 28th, 2011.
We are looking for editors who can commit to releasing the projects in
time and ensure error free copies of the manuals/guides.
The Guides will be developed internally, but once finalized they will
be released as open-source projects published under a creative commons
license. The project will be open to be edited by anyone - just like a
wiki.
The Muktware Manual Project is our contribution to the development and
growth of the free software technologies. The aim of this project is
to create a comprehensive pool of information under a single roof
which will benefit not just one distro, but GNU/Linux in general. I
hope this project will help people to use GNU/Linux with greater ease.
We are inviting the applications for editors. If you think you have
the time and skills to lead the project, apply now to become a project
leader/editor.

Hello,
I am happy to announce that the application is finally ready.
Thanks to all those who helped with their valuable inputs.
The system not only marks employees as present with their thumbnail photos
and a monthly report but it also rejects wrong names and prevents duplicate
/ repeat marking for every day. If an employee signs on someone else's name
then his photo is clicked with that user's name and his hanky panky is
recorded. After a duration of some hours that will be decided by the company
boss, the system even marks those who are absent as 'Absent' in their
monthly log.
Adding or removing users is simply a process of editing a single text file
with a list of employees.

> 1. Ask your service provider on how to install on your linux box. In case
you are using Ubuntu, just connect your 3g data-card and fill in the
connection information. 2. That will setup your card. Now, make sure that
you are connected to the internet using this 3g connection.
3. Next, use a sip software like Skype to make the the call.
Or, if the target phone has Skype installed, then you can make free
Skype-to-Skype calls from your desktop to this target phone.
Skype is available for many phones, excluding Blackberry.
By changing the modified line below
Defaults env_reset, runas_default=rony
to
Defaults:test runas_default=rony
Now the user 'test' can run a command as user 'rony' and user 'rony'
continues to use sudo like before. I think what happened was that since
Defaults:......... was blank, it assumed runas 'rony' for all
users. By specifying Defaults:test, the rule applied only to the user
'test'.
I have not tried it but does it mean that the line Defaults:..... can
be set one below the other for different users and different respective
rules?

Hello,
In Ubuntu, there is a default user called rony who is a part of the
admin group and that user is allowed to run root commands with sudo. Now
I create another user called test. There is a script in rony's home
directory called timediff.bash and using sudo I want the user 'test' to
run the script as 'rony'.
In the sudoer's file the entry for the environment Default is as below:
Defaults env_reset
It is changed to:
Defaults env_reset, runas_default=rony
and a line is added below it:
test ALL=(rony) /home/rony/timediff.bash
This allows the user 'test' to run the timediff.bash script as 'rony'.
All fine. However the user 'rony' gets debarred from the sudoer due to
the runas_default=rony declaration. Is there any way both these
features can be had? I tried different positions of Defaults in the file
above the original Defaults command or below but at a time I can either
run 'rony' as root or 'test' as 'rony' depending on the runas_default
entry. Not both.

I was trying to install Wep Ex 330+ DX , on finding that cups is
taking serial port like /dev/ttyS0 , I found on Desktop PC (having
Ubuntu 10.04), has no /dev/lp0
On ls /dev/l*
it displays:
log loop0 loop1 loop2 loop3 loop4 loop5 loop6 loop7, but no lp0
What could be the reason, and what can be done?
On same machine, same printer do work on MSwindows (which shows port
as LPT1), and it is
connected through parallel port.

I am using Reliance Netconnect USB modem,
I want to shift to 3G usb modem,
I want to know which usb modems work under Linux box ?
If you give me the model number along with your Internet provider, then I
will be able to compose a list and host on wiki.

Dear Linux Users
Can we start Fedora 14 File Server in TEXT mode after having installed in
text mode? If yes, how?
We used to install up to Fedora 10 in text only mode and also get it started
in text mode. But had to start installing in graphic mode as the text mode
install from Fedora 11 onwards no longer offers partitioning and package
selection.
Our knowledge of Linux is limited and its been a long time I passed my
engineering (20 years), so kindly pardon my limited abilities in Linux.
