Netbook - HP 2140 looking for user feedback/comments

Based upon this HCL for Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) 9.04 <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks> I am considering HP2140. Does anyone here on this list have any experience with it? Availability and price in Mumbai? TIA -- Arun Khan

Small Form Factor Linux File Server ( Home )

The thread subject says it all. Any suggestions? I'm primarily looking to build an el-cheapo Linux box. I dont care how low powered it is as long as it has: 1. 1 or 2 Gigabit ethernet ports 2. A display adapter 3. 1 or 2 USB ports 4. Can accommodate atleast one SATA drive 4. Runs cool and above all, is reliable. Either point me to something that is already there in the market but I'd rather build it myself. The keyword here being: SMALL form factor! :) Thanks! Dinesh A. Joshi

Printer problem

Hi, Back again. Puppy linux is roaring on celeron box, but having problem in printer and window share mounting. 1. I can access printer LBP1210 on XP machine. If I send a print file by smbclient it prints correctly . The print file is created on XP machine, but when I print through CUPS, it does not print but CUPS says job is completed. Cups is configured for LBP1270. Any idea... 2. I can mount a window share by smbclient, but mount -t smbfs <other parameters> fails. Any idea... Broadband connections

Hi All, Currently i have a 2-Mbps BSNL broadband connection which is terminated to our Linux Server (Fedora) which acts as the Internet gateway to our LAN users from the DSL Modem using PPPoE. Now, i want to replace this with a new 2-Mbps AIRTEL broadband connection. My queries: 1. Should i run the ADSL-SETUP again for the new connection. 2. If i add another NIC(for the new connection) and run the ADSL-SETUP, will this affect the existing connection. 3. Is there a way such that, i can configure this new Airtel connection without disturbing the existing BSNL connection and just swap the DSL modem. Thanks & Regards, George John.

Backup Internet Line

Hello All, I would like to have a backup internet connection to maintain a 100% up-time of the Internet. We want to achieve this by automatically switching between the internet links if it fails (i.e for eg. if the BSNL link goes off, it has to take the AIRTEL link and once the BSNL link is ready, it has to switch automatically to it.) Can anyone throw some guidance on achieving the same. Thanks & Regards, George John.
