NFS problem

Hi, We are facing problems in starting nfs service in redhat 6.2. error which i am getting while starting nfs service : Restarting NFS services: rpc.mountd [60G[[1;31mFAILED[0;39m] Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection refused mountd: unable to register (mountd, 1, udp). Boot up problems

Hi friends, I have redhat 7.1 installed along with win XP and Win 98 in dual booting. Since last two days when i select Linux for booting , i just get the message ***** Loading linux ............. Uncompressing linux .......Ok .Booting the kernal ******** and nothing else is displayed on the screen instead of the usual parameters of booting .How do i resolve this problem. Please help me !! ext3 vs Reiserfs

Hi! After having a really bad xperience with ext2 I installed RHL 7.2 with ext3 Earlier I had experimented with Reiserfs and found this interesting thing: I have /home partition (not containing ANY data ) of about 125 MB and I converted it to Reiserfs and surprisingly 33 MB was used (probably for journalling puposes) Now on another Linux forum one user claimed that he had used most of the journalling filesystems and found Reiserfs to be best and fastest. Also I have read that Reiserfs journals only metadata while ext3 journals both metadata and data. I have given a lot of thought but converting / to Reiser is very difficult.Has anyone tried this? So which is the best filesystem ext3 or Reiser? -- Money may buy friendship but money cannot buy love.

You can use checkinstall to uninstall/remove files which are created during installation(You need to install this package,Check http://freshmeat.net) or you can write your script to remove these files. hi , I happened to come across your name while searching for a possible remedy to the problem I encountered during my solaris installation. I have just one hard disk and I installed a windows 2000 first in the "c" partition with 4GB size. Then when I tried to install the solaris 8 following problem occured.( I am just pasting the same error message you have submitted to on user group as I am facing the SAME situtation) ----------------- Warning : ACPI Tables not in Reclaim Memory (next screen) Warning : Resource Conflict - both devices are added Non - ACPI device : PNP0C01 Memory : 9FC00 - 9FFFF, FEE0000-FEF7FFF, FEF8000-FEFFFFF, FEC0000-FEDFFFF, FFF00000-FFFFFFF ACPI device : PNP0C01 Memory : 9FC00-9FFFF, E0000-EFFFF, 40FFC00-FEFFFF -------------- After this, all the hardware devices are scanned and no conflict sign is marked against each device found... it proceeds as usual and comes at the screen where it's about to start the installation with the option "Solaris Jumpstart" after which it's supposed to show the starting dialog box of the installation... but the screen goes white with a stationery cursor blinking at the top and the keyboard stops responding... Any reply from your side will be higly appreciated .
