Hi all, I was just finding something through search engines, and found that there is a STTP on "Open Source Software" in K J Somaiya College of Engineering. But, Registration was available only for faculty members, and I am student. The only best part I noted about this, was, Mr. Nagarjuna, is a part of this programme. >From the last meet that I attended at HBSCE, I was really happy what Mr. Nagarjuna shared about LaTEX. Hi all, Greetings from Linux for You (www.lfymag.com) In order to increase people-orientation and GNU/Linux users' participation in LFY, we have decided to introduce a new section (sorry, we are still racking our brains for the 'perfect' name) in the magazine, where GNU/Linux users can share their opinions regarding one interesting topic each month. Every month our team will decide on a question or topic and mail it to various ILUG mailing lists. We hope that the ILUG members will enthusiastically share their opinions on the subject. The team picks the best responses and publishes it in LFY. The answers can be technical, humorous or radical (you may give a totally new perspective to the topic being discussed). This month we've decided to start with the topic, "Why is it that 8 of the world's top 10 supercomputers are powered by GNU/Linux?" Hello All, Since some days I have been going through various docs and sample .muttrcs on the net on how to configure mutt. I got the overall pictire and how set commands are used to set parameters in .muttrc . However it would be great if I could get a sample muttrc file for the following purpose, without any fancy pgp or macro stuff. Hard disk upgrade

I want to upgrade a dual boot 32gb hdd to 80gb hdd partition table as: hda1 fat32 hda5 fat32 hda6 fat32 had7 fat32 hda3 linux (Debian/Lilo) hda4 Swap Also available an utility from hdd vendor for win platform to partition/copy (Seagate). Suggest the upgrade. Regards Kamlesh

Posgresql help

Hi All, I have installed posgresql 8.1 database in my system(RHEL3) . It was installed perfectly and i also compiled it with gmake and gmake install later. i added user posgres for creating database and made him owner of /usr/local/pgsql directory . I created a db called db1 with initdb -D and createdb command and all the datas were located at /usr/local/pgsql/data .but when i tried to create a user or start teh database with psql .. it throws an error saying server is not running locally.. three questions 1) what port does posgresql listen? 2) What services i need to start? 3) Later how do i integrate with apache in future. Which sharedlibrarly do i need for that? Rgds AK

Linux goes to High Court!!

Hi, The Linux has penetrated to High Courts of Maharashtra and soon will enter district and session courts too. The online information system is based on linux. The IVRS is based on low cost external modem and my Perl module for IVRS (http://search.cpan.org/~mukund/Ivrs-0.24/Ivrs.pm) The online information system is being extended to 350 courts of Maharashtra. a wireless network workshop on 15th

We are going to create a mesh network of about half a dozen access points on 15th April at HBCSE campus with the help of Fred Pook, a Netherlands based hacker/enterpruener who works in the suburbs in Goa. If any of you are intersted to join in this hands-on workshop please come to HBCSE on 15th about 10am. It is a day long workshop. We expect to finish making the mesh by evening. It is very likely that Fred Pook will also join us on the 16th meeting at the same venue. Nagarjuna

He just gave his final year theory exams last week and has his practicals next week. The interesting thing is, that this year, for the first time, from what he says, Linux has been included in the syllabus. He had to study 8085 Microprocessor, Operating Systems and hardware basics etc. There was also a topic specifically devoted to Linux versus Windows. This question appeared in the exam paper. For the last couple of days, he has been practising basic CLI on my box. 8085, MS Office and Linux command line weighs 30 marks in total, in the practicals, apparently. I think that's good news?
