You need a regular meeting location. 4. You need a regular meeting time. 5. You need to avoid meeting-time conflicts. 6. You need to make sure that meetings happen as advertised, without fail. 7. You need a core of several Linux enthusiasts. 8. Your core volunteers need out-of-band methods of communication. 9. hi kenneth, " I would suggest that you identify which people need to use VB software and dont migrate them in the first stage. In second stage, perhaps you can have a Win3K server with remote desktop client running on Linux to give access to the VB Software. We worked that succssfully in an office with 75+ users. " i am interested in this. Can you shed more light on the implementation. If this can be done with VB is it possible to do the same with tally.

First put a meaningful subject line like "FC3 hangs during install". "Help" is (almost) useful when you are drowning or being whacked by someone... FC3 and ilk are unstable and not for newbies. Use debian sarge (pcquest dvd). It is stable, simple to install and simpler to maintain with an ( cable modem / ADSL) internet connection. And you will always get support from me. rgds jtd

No need to reformat at all. Just plug it on the same ide port as your old system. After that you will have to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 for using the right X11 driver. ldap failure

Hi all, I got OpenLDAP configured on my qmail server but lately its giving me problem with "untimely death" and by chking the status gives me error slapd dead,but pid file exists,therefore i've to manually restart the ldap services i can't find the logs either, i chkd the slapd.conf file (it seems ok) 1>is there anyway i can prevent the failure of slapd 2>or shud i make a script for the ldap services and restarts it automatically on failure 3>and how do i generate the logs for the same ...pls help me Thanks in advance, Sel --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Hi All Is there anyone who recommend me any biometric device for designing fingerprint based attendance recording system? I want to go for hardware only and software will be designed inhouse because all parties are selling windows based software which can be operated from one machine. I want to design it in PHP/MYSQL (i.e browser based) can be operated from anywhere. I need only device and import/export data software. I had some demo but dealers are quite confused to give it to Linux system. They recommend me to export data through windows system which I don't need. Hi Network card is up and running. A big thanks to all the ppl who pitched in .. esp. Binulal and jtd. I then planned my next big jump. Installed Samba and reached my next dead end. This time it appears to be a common problem. Use google with the search string as "samba no service destination end-point" or http://news.cbn.net.id/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article <http://news.cbn.net.id/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=article&group=comp.os.linux.net…> &group=comp.os.linux.networking&item=121336&utag= I am getting the same response. Couldn't get far with the docs either. Also was curious which user account would Samba use. Do I need to create a specific user account on the machine from where I access the share on the Linux box.... I copied couple of files (excel) from a floppy to my home dir. 2/3 hours later, i noticed that the floppy LED is constantly on and the drive is being continously accessed. Changing MTU values

I use reliance connection to access internet and their dialer too. I dont know why, but any other way fails to connect me to internet (like wvdial, kppp or pppd on command line). I am able to connect to internet at a very slow speed as against that in windoz. Also, it shows a very low value of MTU (264). I tried to change it in /etc/ppp/options to "mtu 1500", but whenever I connect again, the values get vanished (gayab). How do I change the MTU values? Or get faster internet? And one more thing, I always need to be root to run the reliance dialer (even switching to root is of no use) and changing permissions does no good. How do I make it run by a normal user (or even after su to root). Anandraj Soni.

Hi all, I've so far been enjoying the stability,security and freedom because of OSS Linux,but I think the guys @ the Open Source has been straining more on applications of stability and security and making Linux easy to use but I think they miss out one area is gaming...look at all the major games they all run on Win with advanced graphics and high resolutions which leaves a geek like me sticking to Win for games. So here goes a request to all game developers to make a version on Linux where you can use OpenGL and make ppl like me happy :D ...waiting to exhale. hi, i was just experimenting with the phone settings when i found that the default 115 kbps can be changed to 230.4 kbps. but the phone doesn't respond when i try to connect. but i found one web page which claims it can be done, anybody tried connecting at speeds higher than 115. the link is given below, its written on the bottom of the page, but i am not able to do it. here is the link... http://www.hackgnu.org/ril-howto.html -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content, and is believed to be clean.
