ide drive errors on bootup

Hey, Whenever I boot up my linux machine, it gets stuck on the following : hda : irq timeout : status 0x50 { DriveReady SeekComplete } I am running red hat 7.2.. and its a fresh install.. any suggestions on how to fix this?? indianising Linux : web site

We are a group of students and teachers in engg college and want to work towrda indianising gnu/Linux. We aim at doing whatevr it takes to do it. We have no great expertise but are seeking some. We would like to set up a site for the availble resources and strt identifying small tasks and get them to be done. We would like to keep track of status and progress as is done by gnu project on translations for across the world. I do not find mention of indian languages on the gnu site which is a sad (if not shameful) fact. This is the time for all those who want to join to come up with help. All kind of help. We would like to meet some time. We have a coordinator , the undersigned . Can ilug host (give web-space) such a site or has one already? We aim at NOT restricting to geeks and only technical work but also get the translations of important packages and involve general public . We need to answer a few technical questions though. 1> so long as many people have only windows (MS!) they may have to use their software for editing files in indian languages. What standard(UNICODE, ISCII, ISO?) should be followed and using which free software to create strings , .po files, .pot files. yudit, sbabel or what? Are these available in windows with devnagari.Even if this is not perfect can we ensure that the same may be convertible and improved. Or is it necessary for us to wait for miracle of perfect solution and availability of linux all around. 2> what programs would be needed to partially automate the translations. Many are floating around. Can some geek take up the challenge and give a comparative picture for us to use. Also give a small tutorial.? 3> We want to start with marathi. I have been to some ILUG meetings in Mumbai. Its a pity I couldn't all of them, I study at Nagpur. Why don't we do something about the ILUG site. Most of the links point nowhere. A bunch of motivated linuxers can't hammer up a good site? Maybe, we should all work towards that direction. Again, most of the time we talk about configuring this, installing that using this etcetra. But how may of us really take development seriously. We frown at lack of documentation, but how many of us give a hought about actually sitting down there and writing docs. How many of us develop or say even contribute? I don't know, though I joined the list only today, I strongly feel about what I am saying here. And it's high time we all did something about it. With best wishes, Amol Hatwar.

Marathi on Linux (using Devnagari)

I am keen on using emacs mule utility for indian script say devnagari. I go to mule and select devnagari. What next. What is the layout of keyboard. Is it purely transliteration from english phionetically. Any examples, tutorials? Can some one send a specific adress so I can communicate. I am trying to create a group (including interested housewives and students and engg college teachers) to creat linux messages in Marathi.I would like to use Mule for that. Then I want to proiceed to marathi-ise internationalised versions of software. Would any one like to join. Please read Arth-Vrittant of 18 march which is a supplement to Loksatta. Jitendra

I am getting difficulty in running the LAM MPI program. It is getting compiled but it could find the "mpi.h" header file. Is there anything like a path to be set .... and if it is where is should be the path set. I checked in the .cshrc file but i could not find the path. Do I have to set a path out there or somewhere else. I am using everthing and running the lam environment under one root partition. Could you plz tell me whether MPI programming works under one partition or do I have to make another home partition and then specify it as NFS. Plz help me out.
