autodetection of usb drives

I use ubuntu 9.04. Of late the autodetection feature/setting to detect usb pendrives has changed in my computer's configuration. Now if i insert the pendrive in the usb slot, it does not detect it. I have to restart the computer to detect the pendrives. which configuration file needs to be edited/changed for the autodetect feature to work again? Kussh

Mail attachment problem

Hi I am using squid 2.5 transparent proxy with IPTables. My network setting is as follows: MTNL router -> Linux Box (Squid, IPTables) -> LAN I have done masquerade on my linux box and everything works fine, expect this one problem. While composing mail, when I try doing an attachment, it takes very long and finally fails, even if it is a very small attachmet e.g. 1mb text file. I have even tried tcpmss to 1460, but no luck.
