Dear Luggers,
This is off topic. The recent fire at Sion had 3 casualties. A woman and her
child took refuge in a lift to escape from the fire and reach the ground
floor. However, just at that time, the building's power was switched off for
safety and the two got trapped inside, inhaled poisonous gases and expired.
To prevent such tragedies from happenning, lift manufacturers could provide
a mechanical crank inside the lift to let the occupants slowly bring the
lift up or down to a safe floor. If the doors are the automatic type, then a
mechanical arrangement to open the door in case of an emerrgency. As a
safety measure, the door will open only when the lift has aligned with any
available floor.
If you know people in this profession, please pass on this message to them.
Regards,
Rony.
