Lucky you,looks like it's my copy of the DVD that has a problem.BTW,I have
never had a completely unhindered install.Always the Mandriva theme is not
properly installed.Could that be a part of the reason?

What's pebkac?It was not lost/overwritten,it was not visible within Mandriva
ie it had a physical existence but was not visible within Mandriva but
visible from Konsole of Knoppix live cd.
