After installing , it booted to runlevel 3 . where I set xorg driver to vesa and got GUI. Then I installed nvidia drivers from livna.org . All worked fine except the dvd drive and intel wifi card. So I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.22_41 and dvd drive is now working. I have also got wireless working with dkms-ipw3945 drivers from Freshrpms. Hello list, can anybody give me link or site from where i can get Red Hat Enterprise Server 4 cd's or ISO images[all 4 cd's]. Linux Compatible Laptop

Dear All, Today at a client's place I had set up a wireless router and tried Ubuntu 7.04 live CD on his Dell XPS M1210 lappy. It not only gave the usual laptop grade Desktop with sound but I clicked on a network icon with a cross on the task bar and it showed the surrounding wireless network. On clicking it I got the interface to enter the 128 bit key and my net was up and running. Bang out of the box. Thanks to the preloaded Vista, the customer will himself download the CD iso from Ubuntu. The wireless network card in the lappy is some Intel one. funny characters on cli login

Hi, I'm using Kubuntu feisty. For some reason, I cannot login to the gui because, /dev/null is created w/ 600 perms. And yes the relevant line in /etc/udev.d/rules does mention /dev/null having 666 perms. Supposedly this is a problem w/ udev. My workaround at the moment is to hit ctrl-alt-f2, login, chmod /dev/null, ctrl-alt-f7 and then I can login to the gui. This needs to be done at every boot. I have 'cn' aliased to sudo chmod 666 /dev/null. Saves some typing :). Now to come to my problem. I inadvertantly hit ctrl-n at the prompt and now the login prompt at the cli is displayed in weird characters. It's like when you type something in wordprocessor and then change to font to wingdings or something. How do I get my normal login prompt back ? many thanks, Sharukh. -- Dr. Sharukh K. R. Pavri. confused with openoffice downloads, which is the url?

hello, I am finding the openofice web site very confusing. can some one give me the exact url to download the latest stable version of openoffice rpm binary? I went to www.openoffice.org and clicked the download link but did not find any thing except the snapshot builds. I want the stable version which I am not finding some how. if any one has already downloaded the rpm, please contact me off the list. regards, Krishnakant.

Sudoers confusion

Hi, I have put in the /etc/sudoers file the following line: sadhu ALL=(root) NOPASSWD:/usr/bin/yumex I was expecting that when logged in as user "sadhu" I will be rum yumex without authentication, but it still asks for root authentication when I try to run yumex. Can you please refer me to the correct sudoers syntax or to a how-to. Thanks and regards. sadhu
