Minutes of March GLUG-Meet @ Netmagic, Goregaon

Hello All, Anurag has compiled the minutes of the meet with contributions from me. ------------------------------------------------- *Minutes of March GLUG-Meet @ Netmagic, Goregaon* The GNU/Linux Users Group of Mumbai held its March 2007 GLUG meet on 18th March 2007 at Netmagic Solutions, Goregaon. This meet was attended by about 16 people coming from all over the city. Following talks and discussions were held. * Xen - A Brief Introducion Anurag started with a small introduction on Xen hypervisor and getting started with a debian guest. He demonstrated how to get a base guest working on an ubuntu system running on xen enabled kernel. * NRCFOSS - Activities Kenneth talked about NRCFOSS and the activities it has been doing in the field of education -- Tea, Coffee, Soft drinks and Snacks sessions followed accompanied with random discussions on random topics. * Python - Getting started Krishnakant took a hands on session on how effective python can be as a teaching tool for beginner programmers. He demonstrated how simple and quick python can be to teach complex concepts like OOP programming. And another eventful GLUG meet came to an end. KDE 4.0 Release Schedule.

Hi, I have been asked many times about KDE 4.0 release date and such. Often, I didnot have the *exact* and *correct* reply. 4MLOC to port and maintain can't be joke and I didn't want to give any false positives to anybody. We have to show them that it is indeed a working model. The book about which we are discussing here clearly states that it is a compilation of 'FOSS based' projects in the PSEs of Kerala. Please understand that we are talking about 'FOSS based' projects and nothing else. So we now have some solid working models to substantiate our campaigning. Now don't think that we are absolutely complacent about all that we have done. In that there is option to specify the access conc name . If using fedora , "system-config-network" GUI will do the trick for you. -- The Future is Open...The Future is LINUX

Selecting PPPOE Access Concentrator

Dear friends... my pppoe cant login to the server due to wrong information about access concentrator, when i pppoe-discover services on my one and only eth0 interface, it displays 3 services and 3 access concentrators. by default it is selecting the wrong AC and Service, and I want to select 3rd service how do i select the correct one of them and log in success fully Thanks

Airtel Data Card on Ubuntu

Hi, Has anyone used an AirTel Data Card on Ubuntu to access the internet? Any tips on how to do this? I haven't bought the card yet. I just wanna make sure it works before i buy it. Just in case this is helpful : I am using ubuntu edgy on a sony vaio vgn-fe48g. Thanks in advance, Javed.
