The speech is an introduction to software freedom. This is a prerequisite for understanding other more detailed speeches that he gives. You wont understand them unless you understand the meaning of software freedom. You are assuming that most of the audience already know them.
did you read his article on software patents, ACTA, articles on GPLV3, on cloud computing, web services? it seems you haven't. These are are updated speeches which are not given to new/novice audience. subscribe to the free software news letter, where you will be updated on RMS's new speeches and writings. then you will come to know about the other stuff. visit: www.gnu.org and read the latest stuff.
Your remarks in the other mail that he is lone soldier is not correct. free software movement is spreading into almost every continent during the last 25 years. software freedom is being protected and defended and we are going stronger than ever.
