where did you get these figures from?
thats a big number of testers, not saying everyone
reports bugs but a good many do. That is a considerable contribution. On
the other hand most of the changes Ubuntu makes are targeted towards
improving/polishing user experience even if they involve ugly hacks which
i don't think will easily propagate upstream.
in my part of the country, most first time users who start with Ubuntu give up
and go back to doze - a first time user should be given mandriva or suse where
everything works out of the box. Not ubuntu - where a lot of things are b0rked
and need tuning.
