The nay sayers always have the argument that basic amenities are so important that everything else can take a backseat. These amenities are lacking not because of any dearth of means but because of non empowerment. The olpc, networking and software allow the delivery of knowledge, and that automatically empowers - far better than the typical salve of the guilty donating alms.

True. Since children are more literate than their elders, they will bring in new ideas and information from across the globe. The only restriction that I foresee is the control of content by vested interests at the server end.
