I, too, would be interested to know whether there has been any kind of organized mass protest against this.
From the other replies to this thread, i gather that the DIT offers a channel to accept individual comments regarding this matter. However, forgive my cynicism, but based on everyday Indian bureaucracy, this exercise might just be a farce at the worst or the comments would be met with indifference at the best ...unless of course the comments have enough 'government speak' and bring out points (direct or implied) that would appear to have some sort of merit within the DITs frame of reference or were to come from a 'competent' entity (in the eyes of the DIT -- so common man excluded)
I am pretty indifferent myself to the workings of the Indian bureaucracy. I have learned to get by inspite of it rather than with it. However, I do care deeply about my online rights. The net is one place where government monitoring and control would go against my sense of freedom. The problems I see with the sections 69[AB] are more with the implementation. I am not comfortable with some babu (actually the whole bunch of them in review committee) deciding for instance, what constitutes ...

(*) I don't understand what that means ...I assume it means a court order -- in which case, it's not that bad, I guess.
Furthermore, this granting of extra authority and power to control where none is *required/necessary* (IMHO), would just degenerate to yet another avenue for blackmail or increase in corruption (again, IMHO).
So, if someone knows about any ^competent body^ (for instance a non-profit or a political party or a wing of one or a social organization involved with civil causes) protesting this and are making the details available, please post here.
