only god can create. Man modifies, enhances, develops. Linus did not create linux - he modified minix. RMS did not create GCC - he modified an existing (pascal?) compiler. He did not create emacs - he put together a bunch of existing scripts (some of his and some of others), enhanced and modified them. We of the foss community recognise this fact and it is from this recognition that we do not assert ownership on the software we produce (note: produce, not create).
