I have several such systems (not ltsp but rollmyown) in production. And really it's quite simple. Seeing a machine working is not going to help as everything will whiz past until u get to the kdm login screen after which kde will load and u will be presented with a standard kde (whatever) desktop. As someone said post ur /etc/dhp3/dhcpd.conf file and we can get to the real problem.
