err...sorry that i can't answer ur question, but why dont you try running djbdns instead of bind?

my dns/bind file /etc/rc.d/init.d/named status
does not show the status of whether dns is running or not. it gives rndc: connect: connection refused
why? i feel that my DNS is working fine...
