Just to remind all of you xinput has 10 Indian languages with which you can input in KOffice,OpenOffice,Kate,gedit etc. etc.

it supports inscript,phonetic,transliteration for Devanagari,Bengali,Gurmukhi,Kannada,Malayalam,Oriya, Sanskrit,Tamil,Telugu,Gujarati.
