Dear Linuxers,
I am working on resurrecting the erstwhile Linux Delhi Hall Of Shame, which lists a set of (typically Indian or useful to Indian) websites which are not standards compliant, in the sense that they are designed to work with specific proprietary software applications or operating systems. Full details of criteria and current list of sites in the Hall of Shame are available here:
http://wiki.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/Main/HallOfShame
I would request you to familiarize yourself with the criteria which warrant additions to the list, and add relevant sites to the list as well. If you do not want to edit the Wiki yourself, please mail me and I shall add the site to the Wiki.
I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Please help in making this effort a success.
Thanks are due to Raj "Raju" Mathur of Linux Delhi for his advice in helping me get this done.
Thank you.
Kumar

OT, but IDBI Bank was doing something similar to me with Firefox. Later, the account did open with IE, but only after a few attempts, and only for a short while. So rather than browser preference, it could be plain dumb coding (and of course most banks use the same i-banking platform, so you know where the blame lies).
Anybody tried SBI and its associate banks' i-banking sites? IIRC, they also work only with IE. There are some script issues that stop Firefox in its tracks at the login level.

Presumably http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms531018.aspx is the bottleneck though http://dean.edwards.name/moz-behaviors/ goes some way towards addressing it

SBI and ICICI's netbanking websites work flawlessly with Firefox browser.

So does axisbank and HSBC. Albeit the sites run on IIS according to netcraft.
Please note that it helps to mail the admin / feedback ids for these sites. I don't know if my mails did it, however HSBC and Moneycontrol (non-banking) sites started working ( month or so later ) after I sent them mails explaining the necessity of supporting firefox.

On a related note ICICI supports firefox perfectly since one of the critical developer in there loved linux/firefox :) Otherwise it has a platoon of IE-baptized web devs.

They do, now? I used to have lots of trouble with SBI and Associates' websites, and I was charged with the responsibility of administering my employers' net banking subscriptions. Hell it was, all the more worsened with SBI making unannounced changes to policies every month, but enough OT now.

I wouldn't say flawlessly for ICICI. With Firefox I've had issues while making online payments. Right after the debit card grid check the session is forcibly timed out. Has any one else faced this issue?

ICICI Netbanking and online payment/transfers work flawlessly for me.

IDBI was one of the banks who used linux extensively about 3 to 4 yrs ago.
Although i think this thread's quite old, but this site is worth a mention.
The website http://aieee.nic.in/AIEEE2008/welcome.html and the link to online application form for the exam AIEEE2008, has been added to the Hall of shame. [1]
These are 'designed to be best viewed with IE 5.0 or above' !
It has very poor accessibility on the main information page for the entrance exam! I think such sites should be designed for maximum accessibility, its fine if they don't add a single color to it. The NIC guys who did this site anyways seem color-blind :P looking at the hopeless combination of colors they've used here..

Probably all and any sites designed or hosted by the NIC are juvenile. First, they rely on Microsoft (TM) Frontpage (R) or whatever demented extension technologies, use ugly backgrounds, do not link the pages properly, and then exhibit total lack of knowledge of web technologies and aesthetics. This stands true for almost all Ministries' websites.
And then some corrupt people do not update the information on these sites, so that they can divert business to one private consultancy or the other. This is from first hand experience and long-held suspicion.

Thanks for the addition. Let's see if it has at least some effect...
BTW, Anna University was one site which fixed their website within a day of my putting it on that list. So, all is not lost in this insane world. :-)
