Greetings,
The meeting will be on 14th December 2003. Is any
location fixed for the next LUG meeting?
I would like to know if there is any existing agenda
or should we discuss it online and decide it.
Bye.

Thx a zillion. This sounds so much more simpler.
I am using "Apple Laser Writer" printer driver, and have TICKED the
Print-to-File option.
Does this driver support PostScript. How can I check which drivers are
PostScript compliant.
Thx again.
Richard.

Hi,
After a little bit of digging i found the
answer to my question on the PC Quest Website article
which had done a review of RH 9.0.To take screen shots
press Shift+Prinscreen and the image gets stored under
/root/anaconda-screenshots/ this can be latter
accessed during the installation process which you
could use for Documentation .
I would like to thank Sameer & Rajesh Deo for there
Inputs
Thanks once again
Warm Regards

Use yast (as root) and use online update. I am not
sure if it works for an upgrade of a entire system, do
let us know if you do manage to update your system
using this method.

Subject: [ILUG-BOM] Transfering Files over comm port
Is it possible to transfer files over two computers using the comm port?
Withough using the network card?
Links/Man pages/ HOWTOs or any pointer would be great.

As far as I know you can use serial communication (UART Chip) for transfering data through comm port. I am not sure of any manual pages, but you can have a look in the documentation directory of the linux kernel source.
I think there you might find some documentation on using comm port.

Hi Everybody,
I have been trying to configure a sendmail box for my organization. The query i had is there a way to document the installation process ( GUI ), by taking screenshots of the same for documentation.Somewhere i think i came across a line in one of the guides / documents which said that when u take a printscreen during the installation process it gets stored as a file somewhere in the filesystem which can be later used.
Request some of the experienced veterans to shed some light on this.Bottomline is i would like to document the installation process once i streamline it.
Thanks in advance

hi all,
i was wondering how the ilug actually works. you obviously have an email
server, but what about the email parsing. i guess you have a zope app
server as well. how have you integrated both? are all emails scanned by
the app server or by email filters in the email server? how are the
services like subscription etc through subject in email performed? also
which os,
etc software etc has been used and what hardware. what are the loads on
the hardware.
basically if an admin could spare some time and explain the entire
design and the reasons for a particular choice.
also wrt to load on server is it better to parse through all emails for
html or just send it to all the clients. <i do not intend to restart the
html vs plain text issue>.
thanks

Hi,
Can anyone help me out.
My problem:
When I do a "df" on my file system, it reports incorrectly
this is what I get on some on one of my partitions.
------------------------------
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdb1 7.7G 33M 7.3G 1% /vol2
-----------------------------
THe size of the disk is 7.7 GB and it says available is 7.3 GB
that means 400 MB is used, it however reports 33M is used, although the HDD is
empty.
And "du -sh /vol2" gives me
---------------------------
37kB /vol2
--------------------------
There is nothing on the partition /vol2. What could be the reason for this...
This is an answer I got
"Deleted files/open files still held open are reflected in df but not du."
Any ideas?
Regards,
Keith
