HDD space, some prefer using stable older releases rather than bleeding
edge technology. If we have the same there should be no issue in burning
a copy and having the same made as part of the library.

would appreciate that. Again www.linuxiso.org.

Great.
Thanks for the same Ripunjay. As of the BSD's, i will do some looking
around and get back to you on what is required from your end.
Your co-operation towards getting the repository assembled is
appreicated. Where are you put up ripunjay and how do i send the media
charge across?.
Have a great weekend.

Another rant on mailing practices ... I would like to request people
to _please_ create a *NEW* mail when they want to start an altogether
new thread. I just noticed that someone posted a message by replying
to an earlier message and changing the subject line. The earlier
message had nothing to do with that person's question, which why he
deleted the body. But unfortunately, the mail client, dumb as it is,
retained the "reference-to" headers which immediately confused my
equally dumb mail client into thinking its a message from the same
thread.
Is it so difficult to just press the "new" or "compose" button to
start a new message? Even typing the "to" address ... most clients
have ways to automatically complete that field. Why go through the
longer process of reply->rewrite subject->rewrite body sequence
instead, that screws up all the threading?
Sameer.

I saw your posting to LIG, the Linux-India list.
Probably there's some misunderstanding on how we operate. This is not a
corporate organisation; it's a huge volunteer network.
Could you contact the Linuxers mailing list, which has a whole lot of
GNU/Linux people in Mumbai active on it?
I'm based in Goa, and we have an active network here too. FN

Dear Sir,
I visited your site "linux-india". After reading about Linus, I
would like to have more information on its compatibility with
Application softwares developed in Oracle or Microsoft products,
Accounting packages like Tally 5.4 etc.
We are a Housing Finance Comany with our head office at Mumbai,
Fort. Tel Nos (22884986 / 22851766).
Presently we are using Novell Netware 4.2 as our operating system.
We are now thinking of switching over to Windows NT. Since Linux
is now becoming more and popular in the IT market, we would like
to be guided on whether Linux will be more advantageous to our
Company than Windows NT.
We would appreciate if you could send one of your Linux partners
to meet us at our office and discuss the same.
You may send your reply to the following e-mail addresses

Subject: [Ilugc] Free Software speeches on CD
I had the opportunity to download all the speeches on 'free software'
and 'software patents' from gnu.org. I have cut a CD out of it.
Unfortunately this collection does not contain RMS's speech at Chennai
(Madras Institute of Technology) made on March 13th, 2002. However
its worth noting that most of the speeches carry the same message (the
only differences being the humour that he adds to various speeches).
Especially the ones titled 'Free Software Movement' have little or no
differences. For more information on the list of speeches, please
visit:
http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/audio/audio.html
The CD also bundles two of GnuPress published books:
1. Free Software, Free Society - http://www.gnu.org/doc/book13.html
2. Free as in Freedom - http://www.oreilly.com/openbook/freedom/
Also included are the web pages from http://gnu.org/philosophy/ and
http://gnu.org/licenses/
Interested people can borrow the CD, copy the OGGs onto your disk
AND/OR make a CD out of it. All this upon the condition that my CD be
returned in a day OR two. (ideally, borrow on a saturday and return
on sunday).
glitches: I should have put the ogg vorbis decoder (vorbis-tools and
ogg123), ogg vorbis plugin for xmms, too in the CD. Maybe someone can
come up with an upgraded version of the same CD with windows interop
in mind, that would be fantastic!
On another note, I have three empty CD-Rs. I would be very much
helped if someone can make three gratis copies of the same for my own
personal circulation.
