Problems accessing Windows NT

Hi, I am facing a problem in GNU/LINUX. I tried Red hat 7.1, 7.2, and 8 and also EBZ Linux from Linux for U mag. , but I am facing the same problem. I am not able to access any of the Windows NT machines on my network from the linux machine, but I am able to access other win 2k, windows 9x, and windows xp machines from the Linux machine. Do i need any patch or some config. change from either side for things to happen smoothly. Please help me. Ketan

how much effort to port the kernel ?

hi, In order to port the kernel to a new microprocessor architecture, i need to write the machine specific code for the routines in the /arch directory. is that all, or other source files are to be modified as well? note that i am not specifying any arcitecture, and leaving the question very generic. i want to know how much effort and skill one has to put to port the kernel. What all changes/addendums has he to make? regards, anand saha.

Need help (KERNEL MODULE HACKING )

Sir in the below mentioned program i am intercepting makedir system call so that user would not be able to make any directories . Greetings, I would anwer for a few questions. 1. How do I start xterm with larger fonts? 2. Flush mails that are in a queue in sendmail. 3. Is it possible to have a clock in a corner on the console ( in framebuffer mode?) 4. How do I get an image as the one Trevor had on the corner on the console on his laptop? Thanks in advance. trouble booting into GNU/LINUX

Hello linuxers, I recently upgraded my system to an Athlon XP 2000+ , 256 mb DDR RAM , 80 GB HDD , Asus A7N266-VM motherboard with a built in GEFORCE 2 MX display card. I installed red hat 7.3 on the new system (dual boot with windows 98 se running on the primary partition). However when i try to boot into linux i get the following error message : ------------------------------------------------------------------ root(hd0,8) file system type is ext2fs partition type 0x83 kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-3 ro root=/dev/hda9 hdc=ide-scsi [linux-bzimage,setup-0x1400,size=0xff8b0] error 28: selected item doesn't fit into memory. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thinking that it could possibly have something to do with the location on the HDD where linux was installed , I reinstalled red hat 7.3 on an old 4.3 GB HDD as the only OS ; still getting the same error though. Could someone please pin point the cause of the problem and suggest a way of getting around it. -- Thanking You'll, Lech.
