(Please crosspost to any mailing lists you feel are appropriate)
The Asian Open Source Centre (http://www.asiaosc.org)
is pleased to announce that we now offer free web
space to non-profit community open source projects in Asia.
The aim of the new service is to make it easier for members
of the community to create web sites to host their own open
source projects or other open source related information.
Some possible uses:
*host a personal 'open source' homepage
*host localization projects, downloads etc
*build a site showing recommended links, favourite sites etc
*host open source scripts, howtos etc you have created
For more information or to browse the existing community
pages already created, see
http://community.asiaosc.org.
Please note we also offer free mailing lists to anybody
in Asia who wants a mailing list to discuss open source
related topics. For this service, see
http://lists.asiaosc.org.
AsiaOSC is funded by MIMOS Bhd, Malaysia.

Network Security Assessment
Top Ten Tips to Make Attackers Lives Hell
by Chris McNab, author of Network Security Assessment

I run a lot of penetration testing exercises against client networks and
systems. A lot of the time, testing is relatively straightforward, as the
network administrator is not filtering ICMP traffic, and my network scans
are not proactively blocked. I love this type of testing, as it's easy and
quick to undertake.

Linux in just a sec
Karim Yaghmour, author of Building Embedded Linux Systems, told me he saw
a demo of a Linux system that went from power-on to a GUI playing sound
and displaying images in a little more than one second.

anyone alive has survived a dead project. perhaps you meant to say
"revive it".

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist
on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Hi All,
Let us have a slug fest in our next GLUG meet.
The War of Words with fun and knowledge.
I have few topics in mind.
1. Emacs v/s. Vi
2. KDE v/s. GNOME v/s. other WMs
3. GUI v/s. CLI
4. Postfix v/s. Qmail v/s. sendmail v/s. Exim
5. Pine v/s. Mutt v/s. Evolution v/s. Mozilla Mail
If you have more, please add to this list.
To start with we can go in for the 1st.
Here is how we will go about this.
1. We will create 2 teams of 5 participants each.
(Send your name for any of the team. This is your chance to show of
your knowledge about your favourite editor and defend it.)
2. If we receive more then 5 names for each team, we will select 5 from
all based on some criteria.
3. In the GLUG meet, each team will ask the opponents 10 questions or
things to do/accomplish with their editor. The defending team has to
answer / accept the challenge.
4. Audience will ask 5 questions to each team.
5. The highest scoring team will be winner of the War of the Words.
6. Names of the judges will be announced shortly.
We need sponsors for giving out goodies to winning team.
Also to encourage participation, two best questions / challenges from
the audience will also get some gift.
So don't wait, send your nomination now.
Some dates:
Last date for nomination : 5th April 2004.
Teams will be announced by : 8th April 2004.
Date of competition : 11th April 2004. (Next GLUG Meet)
Time : 5:00 pm? (Amish schedule this event)
Venue : Yet to be announce (Amish is around?)
So fellas let's SLUG it out.
With regards,
