Few are like "rlinux" , "Recover4All" and "Easy recovery" . Though they work on Windows they have good chance to recover your data on linux partition . PS : I am not a expert but I use "Easy recovery" that works for my friend . No. Microsoft's end-user licenses do not preclude operating their applications under other operating systems. Were Microsoft to attempt to prohibit such usage, by requiring that Microsoft products be run only on the Windows OS, they would be in violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. The Sherman Act precludes making the usage of a non-monopoly product dependent on the purchase of a monopoly product. Microsoft has been convicted of monopolist practices under the Sherman Act regarding their operating systems. As a result, they cannot legally make Microsoft Office dependent on having a Windows OS license." So on similar lines if any software vendor also says that their products will be supported only on a particular platform, would they be violating any Indian Law?" Government and Open Source

CDAC has placed a half page color advertisement in the Mumbai Newsline (Indian Express) and probably other papers about "The release of Free Tamil Software Tools and Fonts". They include 220 Tamil fonts, Tamil Office Suite, Tamil Spell checker, Tamil Browser, Tamil Email, Tamil e-dictionary, Tamil OCR. Ravi Ventakesan, Chairman of MS India is also going to be present. The venue is Hotel Park Sheraton, Chennai, 5 PM on 15th April 2005. Can anyone give a first hand report? IF you are part of "ALL" you are invited. The cdac site http://www.cdac.in is slow/not opening, so cannot get the details right now. But the effort if serious is great. Nowhere is the need to develop low cost applications more serious for national development than India. Not only low cost hardware, but low cost software is essential too. The potential and applications are limitless. And only the Government, (whose primary mission in theory, is not-for-profit but for people) is in a position to drive such initiatives at such a scale as required. Redhat has corrected it's Training Contents

Dear ALL, At hte meet of March in TIFR, I had raised a issue of Redhat Training Documentation RH-033 had some wrong info about GNU/Linux, It had mentioned that LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM was developed by Linus Torvald ( which defintely is not the case ) So I had discussed with Nagarjuna and Others in meet to raise the issue to redhat.. But now that I have checked their new documentation books of Training they have updated their entire contents for intro to LINUX,they have mentioned FSF ,GNU etc every thing look more OK So I guess their is no issue to be raised .... I was not in touch of the list for more than 15 days since monthend ... Was the meet for April conducted ?? delayed SSH passwd prompt when internet down

Hi folks, I am running redhat linux 9(Kernel 2.4.20-8) server on Intel P4 system, with Western Digital ATA 40GB Hard Disk(WD400EB-00CPF0, ATA DISK). This server is acting as Firewall & Gateway. Running squid & vsftp for local users. When i power on my system this morning , it shows below message (and as per message i run "fsck /dev/hda" without any argument/switch. For your information i have added "fdisk -l" & "df -h" (All output prior to system CRASH). NOTE: i've added /var/log/messages output of 13-04-05 at the END of mail.
