There has been a lot of discussion of GNU/Linux versus Linux. I am not clear on one point. It is said that GNU is the operating system and Linux is the kernel. I would like to lodge a strong protest with the admins of ILUG-BOM over this member's behaviour : <http://db.ilug-bom.org.in/wiki/index.php/Talk:Broadband_Pacenet>. He (she?) has deleted all traces of matter pertaining to decryption of Pacenet's password and inserted standard sales talk in its place. I have not undone this as I want to know whether doing so is "illegal" as the user 'Pacenetrules' claims. Perhaps we need to get a LUG meet arranged with these fanboys and ISP heads. Hello All, I am planning to start the DTP process after some days so please provide your inputs by the next 7 days. Please do check out the last paragraph on why linux is not popular and check if anything invites trouble from manufacturers or if anything extra needs to be added. The first paragraph about contributions and licences appears to be balanced so no further editing may be required. I am actually going to distribute these brochures so please help in getting the page contents finalised within a week. Another important thing is.......what about mentioning this list in the brochure and do we have any logos to go with it. Exaile

http://www.exaile.org/trac I just happened to come across Exaile. It is a GTK+ based media player very similar in functionality to Amarok. I could not find any RPMs for it though there is a package for Edgy Eft. Installation from the tarball is nothing but 'make install', but one can easily run into dependency hell since there is no configure script to tell you what you need. Make sure you have: a. python-gstreamer b. notification-daemon c. notify-python d. python-sqlite2 e. python-mutagen You might need some more, but these are what I noticed. I believe one of you had made a clarification about this some time ago that as long as it does not terminate into a pstn line, it is legal. Hey Guys, Delhi has freedel,Bangalore has foss.in. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to hold a conf here in Bombay, and as far as the topic of this conf goes its open to debate. I say we hold a security conf. Why? because India doesn't have such a conf (AFAIK) and its a topic of interest to me. It doesn't have to be anything big,just a few guys doing some cool stuff. Please comment.

Not the actual procedure on how to go about connecting to Pacenet with the decrypted password. It could be considered illegal if you post information that undermines the security or violates the policy of the company. Hence, I suggest only the decryption process be described on wiki. Hi, Creating a new thread because the original has gone way too awry (I am to be blamed for it too, I guess :/ Sorry, anger got the better of me). Just one (or is it two?) condition. The term ``GNU/Linux'' must not replace the term ``Linux based Distribution''. Any matter from that post must also not appear in any document that uses the term ``GNU/Linux'', unless it is used in the following context (quoting myself from a previous email to the list): > Do something. Create an OS which does NOT have Xorg, KDE, Apache, MySQL, > Postfix, Mozilla, OpenSSH etc etc etc. In essence, only the software > developed directly by the GNU project.
