Mobile Internet and a Linux Laptop

Helllo Friends, Actually in my earlier mail by mistake I wrote about 'broadband'. What I really want is internet connectivity from my Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 Laptop and my cellphone. Can you please help me on: which scheme I may use, and will that work smoothly on my laptop? I don't know anything about this kind of Internet connection. You have to suggest me about how to install and all other details too. Regards, Debasish

hello, a question that has come up from many of my web developing friends is that if there is a good alternative to dreamviewer then they will shift to using gnu/linux from the next day. I want to know what does gnu/linux provide for a free web development tool on gnome desktop? it should have features like dream viewer. Krishnakant.

OT: is imap protocol used by gmail and yahoo?

hello all, this may or may not be considered off topic. actually the subject line seams to be off topic but this is some thing to do with a program I am writing which needs to send emails out of the box. I want to know if imap is used by all popular email servers. I will need to send emails to gmail, yahoo, msn (unfortunately) and rediffmail. may be sify also but that's not sure. so when I write my program in python and asuming it is running on gnu/linux, should I program for imap given the above email servers? also do let me know what else will I need to have on my linux box, msmtp? or any thing else? I asked on the python list and they say nothing is really needed. thanks, Krishnakant

[OT]: Mixed bag of questions

1) Can I run my computer without the CMOS battery? 2) My computer BIOS asks for setting date and time (when I switch off power supply from the spike guard)? 3) I have replaced the CMOS battery a couple of times but the problem seems to exist even now. 4) Do I have to replace / upgrade the Motherboard BIOS? Hello all, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (TIFR), Mumbai hereby invites applications for 4 positions for the post of Project Assistant/Project Staff. Candidates should have any of the following qualifications: - B.E.; B. Tech.; B.C.A.; M.C.A.; B.Sc. / M.Sc. (Computer / Information Technology) Degree or equivalent with minimum 50% marks. Candidate should be aware of Object Oriented Programming (preferably in Python), familiarity with Web Engineering (XHTML, XML, JAVA Script), and databases (preferably in Zope, RDBMS). A candidate familiar with free software development methodology (GNU/LINUX, CVS, Sourceforge, Savannah and such collaborative platforms, etc.), additional experience in e-learning platforms (Moodle, Jabber, etc) and content management systems (Plone, Wikimedia, Drupal, etc.) will be preferred. Competence in Indian language computing will be useful. The position is purely temporary, for one year in the first instance and extendable by another six months. Honorarium will be paid as follows: Candidates with relevant proven experience of more than one or two years will be considered for Rs. 12,000/- per month to Rs. 15,000/- per month. Fresh candidates will be considered for Rs. 8,000/-per month to Rs. 10,000/- per month. Age: Below 25 years (relaxable in deserving cases). gnome-orca for Debian

Hi all, Thanks to Krishnakant Mane for showing excellent package 'gnome-orca'. I found that this package is not in Debian and I just did ITP (bug filling procedure to create a Debian package) for that. I am also with in touch of Ubuntu packagers.
