CyberCafe - Time Bounded User Control.

Dear All, recently one of my friend came to me and asked to setup a proxy server for his cyber cafe, though the setup and configuration is not an issue but the control/management of user with time boundation is!!! what I mean is He need to have time bounded user access, as what happens in cybercafe is a user comes in, a username and password is provided to him with a validity in time e.g. 1Hrs., 2Hrs. etc as per the charge and time decided by the cafe owner and requested by the user, so I am looking for such a tool which can do the same for such a cybercafe based on squid and linux as a platform. In this regard I need help from you to guide me if there is such a tool exists or some pointer to acheive this. regards, Bimal Pandit

At the outset, this article was written in OpenOffice Writer - a word processor comparable to Microsoft Word. The Writer is just one part of the suite called OpenOffice.org - touted as "open source" competition to Microsoft Office. The original version was slow and clunky. GRUB, MBR and NTLDR confusion

Hi I have 2 hard disks. /dev/hda(primary) and /dev/hdb(slave) 40gb each. I have been facing a problem of bootloaders when installed on the MBR. To be safe and avoid any further problems I have decided to go with ntldr the windows bootloader. My first hdd has Win XP Slack 10.2 and FC3. The 2nd hd is solely for experimentation and contains Ubuntu 5.10 only. Whilst googling for information I found that GRUB can be loaded on to the boot partition instead of the MBR and also ona floppy or CD. Now my problem is I do not have a seperate boot partition. In turn whilst installing ubuntu I installed GRUB on /dev/hdb2. I created a linux.bin file by issuing dd if=/dev/hdb2 of=/linux.bin bs=512 count=1 and copied it to C:\ and also added it to boot.ini and named it as linux. When I start the pc I get this option along with the windows XP option but on selecting it the system hangs with a constant beeping sound. Is there any other solution? Have I gone wrong somewhere? I do not want to install GRUB on to MBR but instead use the ntldr to boot Linux Currently I am booting by inserting the first cd of the slackware and issuing the boot command with the root as the specific partition Thanks and Regards Ninad Bapat

[OT] mATX Motherboard in ATX Cabinet

Hi all, I have a 2 yr old PC with the following specs: ASUS A7V8X-MX SE Motherboard (mATX) AMD Athlon XP 2600+ VIA KM 400 Chipset 256 MB RAM (DDR 266) 40 GB HDD MATX cabinet, 240 W power supply As this is an mATX motherboard so I was wondering if I can install this Motherboard in an ATX cabinet. Please tell me is it possible to do so and also is the power supply unit of An ATX cabinet compatible with an mATX motherboard. Thanks in advance. Regards, Antriksh
