Hi
The United States Congress passed an energy policy act
which will change the start and end dates for daylight
savings time (DST). The changes go into effect March 2007.
Microsoft has released patches for this.
Is there any requirement to do anything on Linux boxes ?

The above link documents a nice way to control spam on GNU Mailman run
mailing lists. I am using it on 2 lists.gnu.org lists and 1 non
lists.gnu.org list. Things seem to be ok till now.

Hello All,
Now that the wiki is up, I have uploaded the final pdfs with the
spellings corrected. This successfully concludes the Linux Brochure (for
beginners) idea and implementation. You are free to print these files as
per your convenience and technology available. I will get in touch with
my local printer.

A big thanks to everyone who participated and gave their inputs and
suggestions for this idea and helped in realizing it.
Now the next idea I will be putting into reality is the Wireless Linux
Download one where a local web server gives out Linux distros through a
wireless LAN (WAP) for anyone to bring a laptop and download. The
process for gathering the hardware will begin soon and I will setup a
command line linux distro with apache. Then, I may request the list for
help in building the site.
Thanks and Regards,
Rony.

Yes. I have especially found Fedora Core 2 and Fedora Core 5 to be the
most stable of the lot.

Hi,
Are there any applications that are useful as teaching tools in
classrooms of Indian schools? GCompris is quite good but suitable only
for very young children (2-10 years).

Hi,
What did you ask for? You could have asked others before finalazing

Problem was that I had a config from a family friend when we were about to
order. At the time, mobo and fatherboard was equivalent to me(ie i knew
nothing about h/w).I learnt so much in these short two months coz i found
out it was needed to install and use and learn linux proper. At the time,I
just added what i felt was needed and subtracted what was not leaving what I
didn't know about untouched for eg:i added 512 MB RAM,80 GB HDD in place of
their(family friend's) 256MB RAM,40 GB HDD and subtracted LCD monitor and
substituted it with plain CRT. So they had 101 board,i never touched it coz
i didn't know anything about it.We planned to buy a P4 only but afterwards
my friend(the same one who told me there's not much diff b/w C2D and
P-D)told me a dual core is better so i subtracted P4 and added
C2D.Thereseller got confused b/w C2D and P-D dual core and might have
thought that
since I want 101 board and dual core,it matches..ie 101 board supports P4,P4
HT and P-D dual core and sold me this....now i realize that i should have
changed the mobo to corresponding board too ...but again i knew nothing
about h/w...

but ubuntu doesn't support 101 as intel's site says:

Hi,
Should we allow the folks who deliver movies and music to have the key to
our devices and let them decide what we should be doing with the devices
which we own?
So whats all the fuzz is about? This campaign is to educate the public about
the effects of DRM and how they will be affected.

Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) is a technology that affects all users
of computers, media players, mobile phones and other devices.
"'Your devices don't trust you!' is the basic message of DRM. In fact they
trust you so little that they will not even tell you that they put you under
surveillance," says Joachim Jakobs, FSFE's media coordinator. [1]
"If consumers even know there's a DRM, what it is, and how it works, we've
already failed," says Peter Lee, an executive at Disney. [2]
"DRM technologies are based on the principle that a third party has more
influence over your devices than you, and that their interests will override
yours when they come in conflict. That is even true where your interest is
perfectly legitimate and legal, and possibly also for your own data,"
explains Georg Greve, FSFE's president. [3]

I am using Windows XP SP2 presently and have not yet installed
Linux.Amtrying to acquire Mandriva 2007 from Mohan or
Mehul.I bought the PC hardly 2 months ago.I don't have the mobo box.but i
have the Intel Express Installer Driver CD and there's documentation on it
full of what features their various mobo's support and how to install and
reset CMOS ......
101 GGC uses DDR RAM. 102 GGC and 965 RYCK use DDR2.
that means i cannot use my present RAM if I am not mistaken as to the
meaning of what those specifications in the links you gave say. Do you think
the reseller will cut me some slack coz it was his mistake?
I tried Sabayon on a couple of 102GGC boards. Works perfectly, including the

Mine is 101GGC and since i have absolutely NO experience with Linux,i would
like to get a normal distro first and gain some knowledge before
experimenting.sorry :-(
