Hi Rajesh,
I came across the LInux users site - Mumbai where you have mentioned
about Set Top Boxes - and embedded linux devices.
Can I know more from you as to whether - is that your area of
expertise or are you looking at some one to help you with the same?
If former - then may be you can provide more details on the same.

Hi Linuxers,
I am new to Red Hat Linux 9, i have an fresh installation, my problem
is that i want to change the hostname of my choice, i have tried going
to /etc/sysconfig/network and try changing, but it doesn't work.
Somebody said me to give the command "declare" and to check the
environment variable "$HOSTNAME", i got my mistake, but now i want to
change the variable value permanently, how do i do it.
Any help would be really greatfull.
Regards,
Rajendra Rait.
For setting the hostname, you could try using the 'hostname' command. I've
tried this myself and it does'nt work.
What I did in the end is set the '/etc/sysconfig/network' file to the new
hostname
And also the '/etc/hosts' file to the new hostname.
After that you must reboot the computer and Voila, the comp has a new name
:D
