403 Forbidden Error when Document Root is empty

Hello This is the first time I am configuring Apache on a Knoppix server. We use Redhat most of the time. The problem is if there is an empty directory in the document root, it gives me a 403 Forbidden Error. In Redhat, in a similar scenario, the directory index used to be displayed. Any pointers, anyone? Regards Vinayak

Ok, the problem seems to be that it's initialising a USB mouse, which I don't have. I have a USB printer though. It's possible that this causes a conflict that restarts the comp. Philip -- He keeps differentiating, flying off on a tangent.

system hanging/restarting at module scan time

My dad and sis in Bombay are having trouble booting into linux. They tell me that the system hangs when it comes to loading modules. At some point in the last month CMOS got reset and it started giving floppy drive errors (I don't have a floppy drive). A friend fixed the BIOS, and windows can boot, but linux won't go past the loading modules part. I need to ask a big favour. Someone who thinks they can fix this will have to drop in to Bandra and try and fix it. I'm available if you need to ask anything, but I'm not sure when I'll next be in Mumbai to test things. I really don't like the idea of them connecting to the net through windows, and most of what they need to do is through linux, so I really need someone to help fast. fedora core 2 slows when internet is connected

I m using Fedora Core 2, I have dial up net access using the reliance mobile ( ftdi usb driver) I m facing an irritating problem- whenever i start any application when the internet is connected the new application takes a lot of time to start up (whereas the older already open apps work perfectly fine) and as soon as i disconnect suddenly all the apps that i had clicked pop up My machine has 394MB RAM so i don't think it is a problem with memory. Following discussions and talks were conducted. * Venky Hariharan talked about the Redhat Scholarships Programme for the year 2004: -> Overall response from different regions of the country -> Quality of projects recieved. -> About 900 projects received out of which finally 300 were selected in the first phase. -> How the scolarships programme can be improved with some good inputs from Nagarjun. running java applications from behind a proxy

squid configuration for antivirus scanning

Hello People, I want the incoming traffic from net to be scanned by a antivirus when access to net is through squid-2.5STABLE4 and squidguard. How should I configure squid so that I can scan all incoming traffic from net? Our clients gonna use some commercial antivirus package. Regards Ismail Pardawala
