Could you please download the sourceforge tarball and check. I am
sure that the offending line IS there. Double Checked by
downloading the file from http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/avsap/avsap-1.1042.tgz.

Depends on your platform.
If you use windows then Access is a good choice. There is also mysql.
if you are on linux or *nix then mysql or postgresql are good choices too.
you may be laying too much emphasis on Fast. if all you want to do is "manage a
small chores of your work as soft copy" then even the slowest database would be
fast enough for you.

Every now and then the MTNL DSL service goes south - cannot browse the
web, DNS look up fails etc. - basically no IP traffic goes out of the
DSL router.
To recover, I have to power cycle the DLink modem 502T.
I understand that some of you with the service, may be experiencing
the similar problems. What kind of symptoms do you experience? What
action on your part recovers the link?
Pls. let me know. Send your info off this list
(mailto:arunkha@gmail.com). I will collect feedback from all and
forward them to the MTNL engineers (I happen to know one).
Thx,

I recently spoke to a sales rep of a linux based accounting app but saw it too
was too binding. Maybe it's not their fault, maybe i never clearly expressed by
specs.
I am looking for a platform independent accounting application, built around open
source components. The linux based accounting App was not only NOT OS but also
tied to a particular platform. No can do. theoretically i should be able to run
it on Windows, FreeBSD, Xandros, RH9, FC3 (both client and server)
So...
Maybe a webbased accounting app with a mysql/postgreSQL backend seems to be the
only solution for now. and it should be openSource ofcourse. It's a bummer that a
web based app would mean doing away with the function keys. (true? false?)
a) It seems that K.G. has a comprehensive open source accounting package out
there, which could do with some testing, development and other help from the
domain experts as well as technical folks.
I am sure some of our CA linuxers can join in? as well as some technical folks?
If there are others too developing their own open source apps and would like to
pool in resources, maybe we should get together and see how history can be made?
any takers?
Question 2:
Would this be the right forum for posting FreeBSD questions? am setting up a
freeBSD box for some stress testing to compare performance with a RH9 box.

Hello All
Is there any way to retrieve the creation date of a file? The "ls -l"
command shows date, but once the file is modified, the date shown is the
modification date. Is it possible to get the creation date in any way?

maybe it's added as a signature by their exchange server and they have no control
over it. like Yahoo adding those Ad lines.
What he/she can do is start using a webmail account as suggested by someone else.
maybe they do not have access to the web or restricted access from their offices?
hey maybe they should come out with cool Linux branded credit cards to redeem
themselves. and given that its all about free and open source, they shoudlnt
charge us for it.

Unless ofcourse ICICIBank can offer free for life 0% APR credit cards and no
minimum balance accounts and sponsorship for the avsap project for putting up
with the disclaimer and legal notice. which is hilarious in anycase.
i am supposed to delete the message AND inform the sender? imagine if all the
700 LUG members respond to the message saying that it was not intended for them
and as per your instructions, they are letting the sender know. That would get
the message across. (no pun intended).

Why travel in a luxury bus when your car or bike suffices?
It may be super engineered by factor of 2 for 1.25 times the price, but the
question is does he need that much? right now?
Why carry a water tanker when all you need is a water bottle?

I think a ban is called for. Wonder why the onus is on the recipient,
when the parent organisation has no control over it's content or employees.
