Using Eudora Internet Mail Server

I configured EIMS on my box to handle outgoing mail - it seemed a good idea, saving me a bit of grief on outgoing mail. However, the log showed me within a day or two that the server was apparently being used to relay mail for others, although I had checked off the boxes that should have restricted sending mail to known IDs - in fact, only this one. Needless to say I have discontinued using it. Can anyone guide me about correctly configuring SMTP? -- Vickram

Single User Mode

Hi all Regarding the discussion on the saftey if one can enter LINUX by switching into single user mode at the boot prompt one solution that I can think of is to comment the line specifying the single user mode in the /etc/inittab file [ l1:1:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 1 ]. Then the system will boot but the system can't be started correctely in the single user mode not only @ the boot prompt but even otherwise. Only the magic buttons CTRL + ALT + DEL works if not diabled. Inorder to switch into the Single user mode then one with the rootly powers has to uncomment the line and then ask the init process to re-examine the /etc/inittab file once again by typing "init q". Remote Access of X on server

Tommorrow's LUG meet is at KReSIT at IIT Bombay and the time is 3PM. Please note that the time has been brough ahead by an hour based on the inputs of participants at the previous GLUG meet. The speakers are Rajesh Jain of Netcore (and Indiaworld fame). Jain is one of the most visionary technologists and is one of the legends in the world of IT entrepreneurs in India. This is a rare opportunity to ;isten to his inights on the future of Open Source in India. He has a very popular blog at www.emergic.org. His talk will be followed by Mitul Limbani of Enterux who will talk about Resty. See you all at KReSIT at IIT Bombay 3PM tommorrow Sunday, October 17 2004. Do remember that the entry to KReSIT will be through the parking lot at the back of the building since it is a Sunday and the main doors are closed. Here's directions for getting to KReSIT from outside ... The nearest railway stations are Kanjurmarg on the Central Line and Andheri on the Western line. KReSIT building is the first big structure one comes across when entering IIT. Approximately a 5 minute walk from the Main Gate, it is situated on the right side of the road after Hostel 10 and the wide road going right to the Y-Point gate. It is equally close to the Y-Point gate; turn right after entering the Campus, and take the first left where you will see the Central School Ground. Continue walking and enter the second gate on the right. You can see the white and blue KReSIT building right away! If you are coming from Main Gate, you might consider getting onto the mini bus used for campus transport. KReSIT is on the way ... and the charge is a standard 2 rupees. Venky

Just a reminder that the next GLUG meet is at 3PM on October 17th, Sunday at KReSIT, IIT Bombay. Rajesh Jain of Netcore will be the main speaker. Here's a link on how to get to KReSIT: http://www.it.iitb.ac.in/visit/?id=1 The main doors of the KReSIT buildings are usually closed on Sundays, so people will have to come through the security cabin.
