U are throwing good money after bad. Get a new disk it will last for 3 to 4 yrs at least, running linux. Harddisk for my Debian router...

Hi people, Remember my harddisk problem? Well, the drive finally died yesterday. My router is currently down and that is creating a lot of problems for me. I need a second hand harddisk - 1G/2G/4G/6G/10G....anything will do. I will be paying out of my pocket money so if you're price is too high then I may not be able to afford it. I am willing to pay a max of 900 bucks for a decent 6 or 10G seagate harddisk without badsectors. Please contact me off list with your price. Thanks, -- Dinesh A. Joshi

It should actually be the fan and the dust on the heat sink. Unless u have removed the heatsink a couple of times. rgds jtd

I am in a dilemma. My Sempron system is heating up quite a bit. I was suggested by my vendor to replace the thermal pad but he didn't know which one is good as none of his customers have ever demanded one. I wonder which one is better - pad / grease? I couldn't find AMD recommended thermal pads / greases. Also, I don't know which thermal pads / greases do we get in Mumbai. Can someone tell me where could I get these thermal pads / greases and which company do you recommend? -- Dinesh A. Joshi

[OT] MTNL broadband

is the mtnl broadband/triband any good? I am considering it as a secondary connection to use.. for night usage. Is there a way to program the router to automatically log me off? like time based managment? I am considering the 590 plan with night unlimited. Any idea of the service of mtnl in delhi, i told one of my friends companies to consider it as a secondary connection to their existing airtel connection. Satish

The modem connects to your box nic with a straight cable. It has a default ip of 192.168.1.1. You fire up your browser and connect to this ip. You can change the ip to something else, configure static ips, dhcp, some basic firewalling etc. U can also telnet into the modem.
