X server trouble

HI all, There was some problem with my xserver, it did not start after i installed java sdk 1.5. i think it was because of the space or something. anyway i removed that but now the problem is i have to login every time in text mode and i have too issue startx manually, using the command startx. How do i make it automatically do that and one more thing only gnome starts up. if i give startx kde it tries to start the x server but fails, any clues what could be the problem and how can i resolve it... You may also try out FreeBSD/Solaris 10 which is somthing work toying around with if you haev the time. How about if you identify the master and slave database servers as users (presuming you will run the slaves and master on different machines), give only these users write access on both master and slaves, and read-only to everyone else - assuming you need to update the salve databases as well, otherwise just give the slaves write access to the master? -- Vickram

You missed the point completely. It's about aquiring customers by illegal and unethical behaviour. Unethical is again subjective. To me an example of unethical tho perfectly legal behaviour is patetenting of prior art tech (fat file system, IS NOT, ) submarine patents. A question regarding LDAP

Hi there, i have configured a master ldap with LDBM database and have also configured 4 slave ldap's getting updated from this master. now my problem is that these slave ldap's allow me to write on them and if i give only read access to these slave ldap's then they dont even give the master to update the database. can anyone help me out with making the slave ldap's read only to everybody else and write access only to the master. No idea about the config since its been quite soemtime me dirtied hands on with ldap. Did you check out the ACL's for slapd-slurpd?. Check the archives online pls. Also, the openldap mailing list may be a better place to get your queries answered if you do not get a satisfactory answer from any of the gurus here. HTH. Take care and have a great weekend dear. I just believe that u gotta acknowldege that foss cant match microsoft in every segment. Now u might say that the windows market share in desktop secotor is dropping but its somewhat like maruti u know itl drop but still they will have more than half of the market for atleast 10-15 years from now. And morals and ethics that went out of the window long time back not just from business but from our world in geenral. What else can explain the re-election of tyrant in the country of maximum of ur moral and ethical brothers(and sisters if i might say that). Now one thing more, the reason i have joined this mailing list is because i personally like using Linux and the community process asssociated with it and moreover i would like to get good at it..And i support the idea that people should have a choice. But i dont believe that a complete disregard for what a rival is doing will do any good to my cause. So dude chill, take it easy. And ya piracy where did i mention my likin of piracy? And thanks for the info which i was diein to get from a learned person like you about GNU/Linux.
