It wasn't available when I checked. Anyhow, I'm around... what's the idea?
Hey,please check http://bangalore.gnu.org.in site once again you should be able to reach it.If not try to provide host/dig/traceroute output,that will help the Abhas weed out the problem.
As we had discussed last time on M.G.Road, we need to put lot of information pertaining to the idea's behind FSUG-Blore.[FIXME]The Mailing-list FAQ/INFO section incomplete,please try to write small write and send it to Abhas to be put into the ML-Manager.We don't want threads/mails asking help with Open source,Win32 problems [sic] {Just kidding}.
[Ideas]
[1] For example we don't use much of .doc format documents, but sometime back I got few documents in this format from RedHat India Inc {Ahem} perhaps we can mention tools like 'antiword' to do the converstion.Well, there are lot of other groups which tell how to read/view doc files but don't tell us how to get rid of them.
Yet, another problem was dropped in my lap some years back when I need to understand some specs of my Seagate IDE Drive,well the help files came in .chm format.Gnu provides xchm tool to read'em (see .chm lib problem on google).
[2] Provide a list of alternative software in GNU project with their proper Windows/Mac/Solaris/*nix counter part,Fred had pointed to one such list on a Russian site.(let me dig it up)
[3]Currently, we don't do much events so best we can provide information about other Free Software events on the wiki.
[4]May be we can have a page for feedback/wish-list on the wiki.
[5] Let start a 'Bring in your Box' program on weekends ,lets promote HURD ? {comments?}
Btw, on Fsf-friends mailing-list a student from kerala asked for speakers, try to pass the info around other groups in kerala.
Cheers
