Hi All,
i ll try for the weekend , ie: 11th . it would be suitable... let me know about the following asap:
- do you need a class or auditorium? or tell me
the total audience you are targetting (50, 100, 200?) - do you need a projector?
We may have >= 25-30 people from FCI/Blug/FSUG coming and the students of the BMS (What is your estimation guys?)
Hmm, it would be great if the college has one and can lend us or else I have to scout for someone who has one.
A projector is a must for showing anything. Evenif you have 10 people.
he he , somebody remember the school days :)
Yes having a hands-on workshop really good. Personally am working on developing an XML training program (consisting of five or six lectures) that I would take to different colleges here in banglore and hyderabad (couple of other places in AP).
This would be really nice to see.
At the moments there isn't must interest in Semantic Web and Web Standards here in Bangalore. But in few years we are gonna see companies requiring programs to follow Web Standards from Interface design to Business services based on XML.
Semantic web represent a very exciting area where the internet would go. http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/ for starters. I too would not say that i know a bit , having basics atleast. If possible can we have a small introduction on semantic web. Having them see something abstract and partly practical would be gr8. I too believe that to get the students involved we need to be hands on and keep them in good humour.
Regards
Kanti

How about something like 10:30 AM? Would it be comfortable with everyone else?
- please tell me the speakers names in full, their place of work
I would be giving a talk on the GPLv2. We can then have a Q&A and further on some more general discussion.
And of course, plan for future events over the next few weeks.
i need these formalities completed by today asap.
Please do feel free to ask for anything that could be of assisstance to you.
Cheers, Abhas.

Just my 20 paise Regards Praveen

Yeah, 10:30 AM is good for me. It gives enough time to everyone to travel to BMS College. Think it would be better to post directions to the college too.

PS: Praveen, Sajith and me (and all other film buffs) will also have the time to attend the BFS screenings in the afternon (3pm-6pm) too.
hi,
10:30 is great. i will confirm 10:30.
as in my previous mail to the list , is abhas the only speaker?
@praveen- we will be covering web semantics too right? who will be doing that?

Yes, we had planned this event as an introductory session to GPL and we'll try to cover the issues related to it.We will be having abhas talk on GPL and what's new in GPLv3, we'll have a Q&A after that.
(Depending on the attendance and audience we may have a panel discussion later.)
We can use the remaining time to discuss the GPLv3 conference plans.

I had off-hand mentioned my plan's for XML and Semantic Web workshop but it few months away, there is no such plans from side as such at the moment.

Hi I think that by keeping the event after 13:00Hrs more people may be able to join us. Even I have an exam till about 12:00. Regards Vincent
Hi,
Nirmal called me up just now and there seems to be clash and we might want to look for alternate timings. There is a Cryptography seminar going on Saturaday morning, which got postponed from last week. It seems she (Compsci HOD) want more students to attend the event and afternoon is not feasible. Also Sunday is not convenient for students and we may have to pay for it.
* Now we can have it either next Thursday (15th) or next Saturady (18th). I won't be available in that case, NIT Calicut FOSS event is happening on 18th and 19th ( http://foss.nitc.ac.in )
* Or we can look for other colleges/venues
* Try convincing BMS CS HOD to have it Saturady evening or Sunday (I don't think it will work out). Anyway interested students will turn up.
I would like to see it this weekend.
Regards Praveen

We could have the talk tommorrow at Lal Bagh ?
Since it is to create an awareness amongst ourselves about GPL, we could very well do it at Cubbon Park. Then eventually we could seek a wider audience.
I hope Abhas is free and can educate us on GPL .
Lets get started guys! Time to act!

Praveen and I just talked on the phone. He suggested that if we don't really need a projector (and so can have a smaller gathering) then we can meetup in Cubbon part itself. I think that's a real good idea.
That ensures:
a) that we do meet up
b) we can still have a discussion on the GPL to understand it better
I think all of us can make it on Saturday. And instead of morning, we can meet in the afternoon - say about 4:30 or so.
How does this sounnd? Any other ideas?
Cheers, Abhas.
